General Guidelines

This class will train the student to gain the basic skills necessary for a higher level course in chemistry such as AP, IB or undergraduate.

Along with chemistry content this course will also emphasize on organization and presentation skills.

It is an intense course that can be both rewarding and demanding.

Handouts and Binder The student is expected to maintain a highly

organized binder of all handouts and assignments.

The handouts provided are all color coded according to the course outline.

These handouts will be very useful in other chemistry classes, so treasure them.

Homework Assignments have been pre-assigned with

due dates informed in the tri-weekly calendars.

HW guidelines have to be strictly followed and late work will result in a lower grade.

Some HW answers are found in the back of the textbook to check understanding.

Working in groups can be helpful provided the entire load is not on one person.

Students are required to maintain a grade sheet that keeps track of all graded assignments and scores.

Grades can also be checked online on Aeries. Please report discrepancies to me ASAP.

Missed tests have to be made up by making an appointment with me. No bonus questions will be offered on make-ups unless the tests are taken before the actual test date.

Missed labs will have to be performed individually during lunch or before school on collaboration days.

beyond the textbook. Students are expected to devote 45 min -1 hour

daily to the material in order to gain success. This includes assigned reading, lab-writing, test-prep and projects.

Last minute cramming will not be helpful in this course.
