Fall 2009News from the Oswego County Tourism Office
Oswego’s Vic Minotti finished a close fifth place at 33.04 pounds., and Pulas-ki’s Glen Peschler took seventh at 32.06 pounds.
Meanwhile, Oswego County Tourism’s Fish and Fun hotline (800-248-4FUN) has been busy with callers seeking current fishing conditions and visitor information. Our staff at the tourism office is just finishing up the fall and winter events brochure and we’ve started development of a brand new Oswego County Visitor guide. The new guide will contain updated information on accommodations, restaurants, attrac-tions and outdoor activities. Businesses should look for upcoming advertising opportunities. And last but not least, we’ll soon be unveiling a brand new tourism logo design!

On Friday, September 18, over a dozen of our nation’s heroes arrived in Pulaski for a weekend fishing retreat on the Salmon River. It was arranged by Project Healing Waters - a national organization that is “dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly- fishing and fly tying education and outings.”
The event took place at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Altmar. Each wounded warrior was paired up with a guide who taught them the basics of fishing the river. All flies were donated and the local community pulled together to come up with meals for the whole weekend. It was an amazing event led by Fred Kuepper, PHW Oswego County chapter founder and Mid-Atlantic coordinator.
