On Saturday our School Captains, Brooke & Thomas represented our school and laid a wreath at the Shepparton RSL’s ANZAC Day service. This year they also got to march in the ANZAC Day parade. I would like to sincerely thank Brooke, Thomas, Mr Zito and their families for supporting this special event. There will be photos in next week’s newsletters.

Last Friday our grades 3 to 6 students had an unique experience with special guest Kristy Cooper shared her family’s ANZAC Day story. Her Great Grandfather Private George Hannaford served on the Western Front in World War 1. His story is part of the DVD series “In Their Footsteps ~ In a Time Of War They Risked Everything” which the students watched prior to Kristy’s visit. Our students showed great interest in Kristy’s story and asked some fantastic questions. A big thank you to Yolande Kerr who organised this opportunity for our us, donated a copy of the DVD to our Library and the thank you gifts for Kristy. On THURSDAY our HOT LUNCHES

program will start for this year. Students have the opportunity to bring a lunch that can be heated up

in our pie warmer on Tuesdays and Thurs-days. Some of our grade 5 and 6 students are responsible for our hot lunch program. To help them please do the following: # No frozen food - please thaw any frozen products as this affects heating times; # Please wrap food tightly in foil, keep it flat and clearly name your child’s lunch; & # Let your child know they have a hot lunch so they can put it the tub when our hot lunch monitors come to collect the hot lunches at the start of the day.

Students can also bring a thermos with hot food in it. I encourage families to avoid the use of boiling water due to OH & S concerns. Don’t forget pie orders and payment are due in tomorrow Wednesday 29th April. Please note that unfortunately no late orders will be taken. Delivery is on Wednesday 6th May. Pick up is in the Library from 3.15pm to 4.00pm. On Thursday 7th May is our Life Education Van Visit. There is a parent information session from 9.00am to 9.30am. These sessions give parents an insight into what the Life Ed Van is all about. Our Grade 3 to 6 students have an 1 1/2 hours session and our F to 2 have an hour session. The visit is followed up with a student work book which they will do with Miss Baker. Permission notes for this incursion were sent home last week and are due back on Friday 1st May.

Last Tuesday our grades 3 to 6 students participated in a hockey clinic ran by Hockey Victoria. This

traveling roadshow aims to promote the sport of hockey and encourage students to attend local come and try days. I know a couple of our student's attended the come and try sessions. It certain looked like everyone was having a great time. Thanks to Therese Nichloson and Michael Neilsen from SYC Hockey Club for organizing this event. Our annual swimming program at Aquamoves was held last week. As usual our students' behaviour was outstanding as they did our school proud. They certainly enjoyed their week especially Friday on the waterslide and rapid river. A big thank you

to the numerous parent helpers who helped in the change rooms. I would also like to thanks Mr Zito, Mrs Opie, Miss Baker and Mrs Gamble. Swimming week takes an enormous amount of organization and is a disruption to our normal timetables. I would also like to thanks Dale McCully who drove one of our buses & helped Mr Z with the boys. It was great to see so many of our parents drop in during the week. We are currently doing our KCPS Cross Country. All of our students are running or walking our set course at school with the challenge of doing as many laps as they can. Our grades 3 to 6 students will participate at the East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Cross Country at Princess Park on Friday 8th May. Permission notes have been sent home and are due back on Friday 1st May. The first 10 runners of each age group will qualify for the Division Cross Country on Friday 22nd May. From there it’s on to Region, State and National Cross Country Championships. Our Outside School Hours Care program is now registered as a Child Care Benefit service. This means we meet the Government’s high quality standards and operating requirements. So our families who are eligible will receive a child care rebate for our OSHC service. Information was sent home to families who currently access our

program. If you would like to know more about the CCB please see Joanne Stonehouse. I would like acknowledge the huge amount of work Jo has done in order for us to get our registration. Thanks Jo! Finally, our hard working Parents’ Club have hosted some new fundraising events for our school including: our Family Fun Night & Time Out For The Girls. On Monday 27th April we hosted our first Time out For The Girls with a number of local businesses promoting and selling a wide variety of products. Participants enjoyed supper, lucky door prizes and raffles. The night was a great success with discussions of what we will do next time suggesting it will be an annual event in our fundraising calendar of events. A sincere thank you to Deanne Moulsdale, Tish Okely, Lisa Irwin, Tracy Blake, Amy Keat, Annette Hunt and Nadine Keyter. I encourage you to support the business who supported this event. Mitchell, LDS, Left Back, Little Bomber, Magic Magpies, Pie Time, Rocket,

Sheedy’s Heroes, Sprocket, The Hunt Boys, The Old Don, Tiger Tay, Tigger,

Toby the Wonderdog, Two Tigers and Undercover Agent, X-man.

Round 8 ~ Hawk 4, Chris Wheeler

Round 7 ~ Panda Mask

Round 6 ~ Red Legs, Howards Heroes

Round 5 ~ Mitch Zito, Oscar

Round 4 Wrap – On Friday night the Demons had a surprise win over the Tigers by

32 points. Bomber 10 is lead to believe that there was one very happy Demons

supporter at the game. Is that right Red Legs? On Saturday morning ANZAC Day

the Blues had a much needed win over the Saints in New Zealand, while at the MCG

the Bombers lost a very scrappy game to the Magpies by 20 points. And yes Magic

Magpie was one very happy fan, not so Bomber 10. The Giants had a massive win

over the Suns defeating them by 66 points. The Power defeated the Hawks by 8

points and the Dockers had a win over the Swans. On Sunday the Eagles had a good

win over the Lions, the Kangaroos defeated the Cats and the Bulldogs had a

surprise win over the Crows.

Chocolate Hawk, Poppit 05 and Red Legs were the only three people who tipped the

Demons to defeat the Tigers. Well done to these girls. Who says girls can’t tip?

There were also four tippers who tipped the Bulldogs to win. They were Oscar,

Poppit 05, Tigger and Undercover Agent.

Star of the week for round four was Oscar who tipped 6 and Fourquarters, Pie Time,

Red Legs, Rocket, Tiger Tay and Two Tigers who all tipped 5. Well done to you all in

a round that had many surprises.

Best Winning Margin Score - Chocolate Hawk had the margin winning score of 6.

Well done girls.

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders after Round 4 – are Chocolate Hawk, Frazzle Dazzle

and Mitch Zito who are on 20, followed by Specky Magee, Bomber10 and Mitch Zito

on 18, while on 17 we have GAMS, Two Tigers, Greymouse and Red Legs.

Apologies to Pie Time for leaving her off last week’s leaderboard.

Magic Magpie and Bomber 10 had a good day at the “G” on Saturday where they

watched the ANZAC Day game between the Bombers and the Magpies. It is with

sadness that Bomber 10 has to present the “Buckley” v “Hird” trophy to Magic

Magpie once again. Did you know that this ANZAC Day game has been played since

1995 and that the first game that was a draw? The Magpies have won 12 games and

the Bombers have won 8 games and there has been 1 draw. The Bombers player

Dustin Fletcher has played in 17 of these games.

Just a reminder to get your final top 8 teams in by this Friday 1st May.

The current Jackpot stands at $16:00

Good tipping everyone!
