CAUTION: Hillclimbing is definitely not for beginning drivers Consequently, the RSCC reserves the right to refuse any participant. The Hill is fun to drive as well as being difficult to master at speed, so caution is most definitely recommended for those who have never seen the Hill.
A MANDATORY Drivers School for first-time Hlllcllmbers wlll be held Friday evening after Tech
- see the schedule for location & time.
NO IMPROMPTU PRACTICE: There will be absolutely NO "practices" on the Hill at any time. We could lose our site for violation. Violations of this rule will result in immediate disqualification with no refund. The hill may be driven in street legal cars, following all traffic laws, prior to 7:00 am each day. All entrants are asked to help setup each morning. It is unfair for people to get extra time on the hill while others are working.
TECH: Expect a rigorous, off-trailer session. Any car which goes "off- course" during a run will be expected to be reteched before it is allowed to run again. Battery hold-downs must be either of the stock type or a solid metal clamping device. Elastic cords are not acceptable. Tires that will be used on the Hill must be at tech for inspection. Any alteration made to the car after tech must be cleared with the tech inspector. No open holes are allowed in the bulkheads between the engine and the driver or between the fuel tank and the driver. Helmets and driver's licenses will be checked at this time.
A MANDATORY drivers meeting will be held each morning. Failure to attend will be considered grounds for disqualification or forfeiture of your first run.
WORKERS: All drivers will work or provide one worker per car driven on the day{s) you participate in this event. We will need comer workers and you can expect to be called upon to help.
RELEASE WAIVERS: All participants, pit crews, spectators, etc., must sign the insurance release form.
CAR NUMBERS & PITS: These will be assigned on a first come-first served basis and verified by email or phone call. Other info, rules, etc. will be provided at the event and will take precedent over any other printed material. Car numbers and 2018 NHA stickers must be visible from both sides of the car, no exceptions. NHA stickers will be available at the Hoopa tech on Friday for $10.
MUFFLERS: Spark arrestor type mufflers are required.
AWARDS will be given on the following basis: 1 to 4 cars in a class - 1 award 5 to 8 cars in a class - 2 awards 9 or more cars in a class - 3 awards
CAR CARE
CENTER Done Right- D·one on Time.
Broadway Eureka, CA 95501 (Highway 101 at Washington or 800 543-7858 · leons-carcare.com
FOOD: There will be snacks & drinks available for sale at the hill. Straight Arrow Cafe will be making bag
lunches and delivering them to us on Saturday and Sunday, but only if you place your order by Friday, 12July. Local businesses are a big part of why we are able to keep the Hillclimb, so please support them. There will be an awesome dinner with all the fixins on Saturday night at the Legion Hall. Dinner is included for twoday drivers, $25 for everybody else. Please pay with your entry application. Sorry "No Credit Cards" at the hill.
RUNS: Two runs per day per driver.
REFUNDS: Refunds will be available only at the Registrar's discretion and requests must be received by the end of Friday's tech inspection. 5% fee on refunds.
DRIVERS must wear a helmet which must be an approved Snell 2005 or newer. Drivers must wear shoes, long sleeved shirts and long pants made of cotton or Nomex, while on their runs. Driver's Suits are strongly recommended. Always buy the best safety equipment that you can afford.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Shoulder hamesses and/or cross chest harnesses are mandatory. All open cars must have roll bars that are above the driver's helmet, adequately braced, and be constructed to S.C.C.A. GCR specifications. GCR reg.18.1.2 states - Forward braces and portions of the main hoop subject to contact by the driver's helmet shall be padded with non-resilient material such as Ethafoam or Ensolite or other similar material with a minimum thickness of one-half inch. Integrated roll bars, such as Corvette & Porsche "Targas", etc. are acceptable. The driver's side window must be rolled up, or a window net or arm restraints used. ROAD RACE CARS: GCR ROLL BARS are required. Arm restraints strongly recommended in all open-top cars.
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS or fire systems are mandatory in all cars. They must be mounted using a metal bracket, be within easy reach of the driver or a safety official and must be a minimum SBC rating. They must be professionally tested and tagged within 13 months of the event.
LADIES CLASS: Hoopa Hillclimb results will include Ladies Class results. However, trophies will be awarded on a gender-neutral basis.
