Provide certification that the amount of asbestos is below the building code threshold and therefore is not regulated by this office or an abatement permit must be obtained from this office and finaled prior to this permit issuance. RESPONSE: The owner has been notified and will provide Certification Form. 2. WIND LOADS (VA CONSTRUCTION CODE SECTION 1609) Corrections: The correct wind load for Hampton is 115mph. A review of the construction documents for the above referenced project has been completed by this office. The review is based on Part I of the 2012 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and our comments are as follows:

1. ASBESTOS (VA CONSTRUCTION CODE SECTION 110.3)Corrections: Asbestos report identifies ACM in the roof B drain. Provide certification that the amount of asbestos is below the building code threshold and therefore is not regulated by this office or an abatement permit must be obtained from this office and finaled prior to this permit issuance.2. WIND LOADS (VA CONSTRUCTION CODE SECTION 1609)Corrections: The correct wind load for Hampton is 115mph. Please revise the drawings and specifications accordingly.

The above comment(s) shall be addressed in either written or digital format. Paper copies shall consist of a minimum of two (2) sets of construction documents and shall be directed to the Development Services Center; 22 Lincoln St.; Hampton, VA 23669; Attn: Plans Review. Digital submissions shall be sent as attachments in an email that contains sufficient detail as to what job the resubmission is referencing. All resubmissions shall include the reviewers name, the name of the applicant, a copy of the comment letter with your responses and a brief description of the related work. ALL digital submissions shall be sent to the following address: [email protected].

Resubmissions shall clearly show all revisions indicated by “clouding.”

Any resubmission must be reviewed and approved before the corresponding permit will be issued. A representative of the Development Services Center will contact you once the permit is ready to be issued. You may contact that office at (757)728-2444 should you have questions concerning the permit itself.

The above comments do not relieve the designer or the contractor from complying with all of the appropriate provisions of the current Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.

RE: ASBESTOS INSPECTION IN BUILDINGS TO BE RENOVATED OR DEMOLISHED

Effective May 15, 1996, the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code requires that all buildings to be renovated or demolished shall be inspected for the presence of asbestos-containing materials, and subject to exemptions, appropriate response actions shall be undertaken. The following form is to be completed by all applicants for Building Permits for renovation or demolition. A completed form will contain one box checked below and must be signed by the owner or the authorized agent of the owner(s).

AS OWNER, OR OWNERS AGENT OF THE ABOVE BUILDING, I CERTIFY THAT:

The above building is a single family dwelling, or is a residential housing building containing four (4) or fewer units, and is exempt from asbestos inspection requirements. (NOTE: This exemption does not apply if the proposed renovation or demolition is for commercial or public development purposes); or

The combined amount of regulated asbestos-containing material involved in the renovation or demolition is less than 260 linear feet of pipes, or less than 160 square feet on other facility components, where length or area could not be measured previously, and is exempt from asbestos inspection requirements.

The initial Building Permit for this building was issued after January 1, 1985 and therefore the building is exempt from asbestos inspection requirements.

IF NONE OF THE ABOVE BOXES HAVE BEEN CHECKED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT MUST BE

CHECKED IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THIS FORM:

The materials to be repaired or replaced are assumed to contain asbestos and the appropriate response actions will be accomplished by a licensed asbestos contractor.

In accordance with paragraph 36-99.7 of the Code of Virginia, I further certify that the abatement area will not be reoccupied until any required response actions have completed and final clearances have been measured andfound to be within regulated tolerances.
