    Hopkinton is a town in the Boston-Cambridge-Quincymetro area in Middlesex Count y. Hopkinton is located 26miles west o f Bost on and 195 miles from New York City.The community was named after Edward Hopkins, aHarvard benefactor.

    According to the United States Census Bureau, the townhas a tot al area of 28.2 square miles of which, 26.6 squaremiles is land and 1.6 square miles is water. The zip code inHopkinton is 01748. Land wise the town is one o f thelargest in the area.

    Adjacent towns to Hopkinton include: Upton on thesouthwest; Westborough on the northwest; Southborough on the north; Ashland on thenortheast; Holliston on the southeast and Milford on the south.

    Two propert ies in the historical register include Cedar Swamp Archeological District (Listed 1988-05-23); and Hopkinton Supply Company Building, (Listed 1983-03-10).

    The Town gets t he spot light each year as the starting point of the highly regarded and popularBoston Marathon, an annual event hosted by the city of Boston. I have been watching theMarathon f irst hand since I was a kid and can tell you it is worth seeing the start at least once.

    The event began in 1897 and has since been theworlds oldest annual marathon. Hopkinton is a fairlyquiet town during the rest o f the year. The town hasbecome well known for t heir exceptional schools,

    quality housing stock, and convenient commutinglocation.

    In fact Hopkinton can be found at the cross roads ofNew England with Interstat e 495 and the Mass Pikeexits located in close proximity. All of the abovefactors contribute to a quality of life for residents thatattract f olks from all over the United States.
