RAYCHEM Hopper Heating SystemSYSTEM OVERVIEW
The RAYCHEM Hopper Heating System (HHS) is designed to maintain an elevated temperature above moisture and acid dew points using a proven combination of:
• Modular surface heater modules (HHS)
• Flexible Wrap Wound Heaters (HHS-WWH) for the throat, poke tubes and manholes (manways)
• Energy conserving temperature control and monitoring systems
HOPPER HEATER MODULE (HHS)
The modular design provides the most cost-effective and energy-efficient heat transfer across a large surface area in Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) hoppers, Baghouse hoppers and material & dust collector hoppers.
• The heaters withstand exposure temperatures up to 538°C (1,000°F)
• The heaters employ multi-stranded resistance wire elements which are sewn down to a high temperature cloth and provide even heat distribution
• Resistance wire heating element technology has 65+ years of industrial installation experience
RAYCHEM heaters are designed and benchmarked against both the IEEE-1069-1991 & IEEE-515 standards and are FM approved.

WRAP WOUND HEATER (HHS-WWH)
Standard Wrap Wound Heaters (HHS-WWH) are available to heat the conical throat and poke tube portions of the hopper above 140°C (284°F).
• The heaters have a multi-stranded heating element with a minimum of 6 parallel paths (heating elements are placed between between multiple layers of fiber glass insulation)
• Heater watt density and lengths can be customized for project specific design requirements
• HHS-WWH are supplied with eyelets and tying wire for connection to the hopper surface
CONTROL & MONITORING
nVent offers a complete range of control and monitoring products including mechanical thermostats, electronic controllers, contactors, sensors, controller accessories and RTDs for use in conjunction with our hopper heating systems.

Simple stud-welded installation eliminates the external attachment frame to reduce the installation time and minimize impact of vibration

Continuous length of multiple parallel paths (not less than six), ensures that burnout of one element does not affect the other heater elements

(< 3 watts / square inch of power) minimizes hot spots for uniform heat distribution across the entire heated surface

The blanket and lead wires are designed to resist moisture & humidity; metal cladding is designed with 304 stainless steel to reduce the potential for corrosion in 100% relative humidity environments
