- ERC

• Independent FP7 evaluation: "…the ERC has manifestly succeeded in attracting and funding world-class research and is playing an important role in anchoring research talent."

Impact:

• On researchers (so far over 2500 world class starting and advanced

researchers funded among which 4 Nobel Prize laureates and 3 Field Medallists)

and on research institutions (480 host institutes in 26 countries)

• On developing a new generation of excellent scientists

• On advancing the frontiers of knowledge

• At policy level and on research funding mechanisms

• On exploring the commercial/social potential of ERC funded ideas

science: Research Infrastructures

• ESFRI Roadmap 2010: 48 RIs of major European

importance, a first prioritisation of Research

Infrastructures at EU level

• Horizon 2020: An increased budget, from around €1.7

billion (FP7) to €2.5 billion

• Priorities: implementation, access to Research Infrastructures, data storage, data handling

• Facilitate strategic international cooperation for global Research Infrastructures

leadership (20 Billion Euro)

International reputation based on research excellence

Proven record in securing research funding and experience in

managing and leading research teams

Pilot Call: Eligibility Criteria

• Requested EU contribution not to exceed a maximum of EUR 2,4 million for up to 5 years

• EU contribution is limited to a maximum of 90% of total estimated budget

• Applicants shall be universities and other research organisations

• Applicants in EU convergence and outermost regions. Subject to

international instruments regions in Third Countries are or may become

eligible *

• Maximum one successful project per country will be funded
