To our Supporters,

We sincerely thank you for your generous support in 2017 which enabled us to provide services to over 4,000 neighbors. The year was both exciting and transformational for Horizon House as we successfully launched our new strategic plan to serve as Central Indiana’s champion and trusted leader for supporting neighbors to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. The agency executed on all aspects of the strategic plan during 2017, making it possible for us to serve more individuals and families than ever before. Your support helped make this possible, and we thank you!

As part of the rollout of our strategic plan, we developed branding that represents our full continuum of services: • Providing HELP: meeting neighbors where they are and inviting them to engage in services • Inspiring HOPE: offering integrated, comprehensive services to overcome their barriers and restoring hope • Finding HOME: meeting the goal of stability and long-term self-sufficiency for each neighbor

In early 2017, Horizon House received a $5.0 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of its commitment to support human service organizations that strive to improve the lives of low-income individuals and families. We were both honored and humbled by this remarkable and game-changing gift, and will use the funds to sustain and bolster our comprehensive approach to programs and services. Equally important, we established an endowment to secure the agency’s long-term financial future. Lilly Endowment awarded this tremendous gift to Horizon House because we are critical to the community’s holistic efforts to address the issue of homelessness.

To close out the year, Horizon House was awarded the city’s Coordinated Entry System Housing Grant to provide supportive services to the 100 most vulnerable individuals being housed as part of the Mayor’s challenge in 2017. This grant enables Horizon House to provide these critical services to individuals, helping them achieve the ultimate goal of long-term self-sufficiency.

Other highlights of 2017 include:• Our Program Manager, Melissa Burgess, was nominated and named one of the “United Way 100 Heroes” in celebration of United Way’s 100th Anniversary. Each hero was selected based on the difference they make in their community, and for their willingness to serve others. Melissa says her mission is to “help and empower those who are most vulnerable, provide hope and opportunities, and help create positive change for those in need”. We are extremely proud of Melissa!• We completed several much-needed facility updates, which enhances our service environment that aligns with our values of respect and dignity for those we serve. • We have continued to strengthen our partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
