DATA SHEET Horizon II mini  Motorola’s Horizon II mini GSM base station is available in compact indoor and outdoor cabinet formats making it an ideal solution for a wide variety of deployment and coverage scenarios. The compact size of Motorola’s Horizon II mini base station means that it can be quickly deployed to provide rural, roadside coverage or as an indoor capacity solution. The Horizon II mini may be configured with up to four cabinets deployed in a logical site. Benefits Flexible Solutions The Horizon II mini offers service providers a fully featured GSM base station designed for rural, hotspot capacity relief or in-building coverage applications. The Indoor variant is unobtrusive and easy to site, making it ideal for delivering in-building coverage with the functionality and capacity to meet today’s needs. The Horizon II mini standard Outdoor can be floor or wall mounted; the “Street Furniture” enclosure is vandal-resistance allowing deployments in roadside or public areas. Both solutions offer service providers wide ranging deployment flexibility through secure and environment proof enclosures. The enclosures are compact, making them easy to deploy, each also provide 1U of 19” rack-mountable communications equipment space and a 48VDC power supply. Temperature control is achieved with a highly efficient air-to-air heat exchanger, maintaining the internal environment. Flexible Performance GSM The Horizon II mini is a highly capable and flexible base station; utilizing Motorola’s CTU2D radio with the HIISC2 site controller, to provide entry level GSM coverage with high performance and reliability and the CTU4 multi-carrier radio with the BBU site controller to support increased capacity and future data capability with Evolved EDGE. Motorola’s CTU2D and CTU4 radios operate in either the EGSM900 or GSM1800 bands; support GSM Half Rate, Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR), GPRS and EDGE technologies. The CTU4 is also capable of supporting Evolved EDGE and LTE. Expansion Beyond the Cabinet Utilizing Motorola’s remote radio head unit, the RCTU4, carrier capacity can be expanded further with the addition of up to six additional RF heads, offering the possibility of 24 further carriers depending on the BBU site controller loading. The RCTU4s can also be located to distances over 20km away, via the fast fiber connection to the base station, offering even more flexibility to this versatile base station.

BenefitsFlexible Solutions

The Horizon II mini offers service providers a fullyfeatured GSM base station designed for rural, hotspot capacity relief or in-building coverageapplications.

The Indoor variant is unobtrusive and easy to site, making it ideal for delivering in-building coveragewith the functionality and capacity to meet today’sneeds.

The Horizon II mini standard Outdoor can be floor orwall mounted; the “Street Furniture” enclosure isvandal-resistance allowing deployments in roadsideor public areas. Both solutions offer service providerswide ranging deployment flexibility through secureand environment proof enclosures. The enclosuresare compact, making them easy to deploy, each alsoprovide 1U of 19” rack-mountable communicationsequipment space and a 48VDC power supply.Temperature control is achieved with a highlyefficient air-to-air heat exchanger, maintaining theinternal environment.

Flexible Performance GSM

The Horizon II mini is a highly capable and flexiblebase station; utilizing Motorola’s CTU2D radio withthe HIISC2 site controller, to provide entry level GSMcoverage with high performance and reliability andthe CTU4 multi-carrier radio with the BBU sitecontroller to support increased capacity and futuredata capability with Evolved EDGE.

Guidelines

The Site controller configurationprovides the total number of

carriers available at a site andis dictated by service class, thesoftware load and networkelements of the end to endsystem.

(Numbers shown for Full RateGMSK under a Horizon 2GRAN Controller)

Additional in-cabinet radionumbers can be provided viadaisy chaining of ancillarycabinets under the control of asingle “master” base station.

For CTU4 and RCTU4 themaximum RF output powersare stated as MC-BTS Class Iand the maximum radio carriersare stated as MC-BTS Class II.
