In the spirit of fighting hunger in the community the Sodexo team at the University of Lethbridge presented to the Students’ Union a donation for $1000.00 for the their food bank. It was greatly appreciated in light of the fact that the Students’ Union Food Bank has seen a rise in the number of people turning to them for assistance. Student Union President Jeremy Jerome accepted the cheque and acknowledged Sodexo’s contribution to the students at the U of L and our continued partnership.

Fighting Hunger at the University of Lethbridge

A free pizza lunch motivated the Burlington office to stop hunger. It happened last December 10th. Recognizing a real need in our local food banks, a food drive was held for this one day. The prize was a pizza lunch for the team that brought in the most non-perishable items by weight. Seven very competitive teams aspired to win as cans, bags and bottles were dropped off. The official weigh-in at Mission Services in Hamilton totaled 1,750 lbs of food. Our recovery partner, Mission Services, was in awe at the overwhelming support and generosity of seventy caring and generous employees. Congratulations to the winning team, IT and Healthcare, and to everyone who participated.

Visiting a food bank has become a necessity for too many Canadians.
