Weekly Bulletin WE 09/06/17 . Horringer Court School Year 5 Tudor Day Wednesday 14th June 1517 (2017) On this day our 21st century drama hall will be transformed into a 16th Century Tudor Household allowing pupils to experience valuable learning opportunities through a combination of role-play, practical activities and hands on experience with facsimile artefacts. Pupils will take on the roles of peasants, traders and craftsmen who will be busy at their tasks while sharing all the latest gossip! During the day pupils will experience 12 Tudor workshops including, candle dipping, making scent bags and a salve for the skin, the alchemist’s apprentices and an archaeological dig. To complete the experience pupils will be treated to a Tudor banquet in the afternoon! To re-create as authentically as possible life in Tudor times, we would like the children to be dressed in poor Tudor folk costumes. Problems rises when fluids are leaving the body through sweating faster than they are being replaced, and severe dehydration can be dangerous. Taking a few simple precautions will protect your child and allow them to enjoy the weather safely. Last week, we had some Year 4 visitors for the day. They spent time in the Art studio and also the Science lab. One of the experiments was the Red Cabbage Challenge using various test compounds mixed with a red cabbage indicator in separate test tubes to measure the PH levels. Compounds included water, lemon juice bicarbonate soda and washing powder. Each ‘Scientist’ received a certificate at the end of the experiment.

Summer Fayre 16th June 2016

We have lots of jobs that need to be done before the fair opens on the

afternoon of the 16th of June. If you have any free time, please come and

help us.

If any parents would like to provide a stall or offer any help on the evening,

please contact the PTA via Mrs Farrow at the school.

We need the following for our fair: - Books, Bottles, Cuddly Toys, Raffle
