hospital-based clinical laboratory improvement
TRANSCRIPT
Significant cuts to clinical laboratory reimbursement rates under Medicare and other payors continue to have
a devastating impact on the clinical laboratory in hospitals.
The Dark Report predicts that the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA) has the potential to be the single most financially disruptive event to hit the clinical laboratory industry during the past 25
years.
Both CMS and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) have stated publicly that the fee cuts planned by CMS will reduce the cost of Medicare lab
testing by $5.4 billion over 10 years.
Reimbursements will continue to decline, and hospitals must reduce
costs accordingly...
That’s why we created Colaborate.Focused exclusively on laboratory improvement, we
help organizations realize concealed financial and operational opportunities.

“We were losing a million dollars a week on our lab ventures when we brought in
Colaborate. Within 90 days, we were breakeven; shortly thereafter, Colaborate
jettisoned the business to a strategic buyer for more than $30 million.”

“Our hospital-based lab was losing seven million dollars a year when Colaborate
arrived. They provided interim leadership and direction; within 6 months the lab was
profitable, and we finished the year earning $5 Million. They are the best
counselors I have ever retained”
