Hotel industry is the primary and leading industry in the service sector. It caters directly to the needs of the customers. When a customer comes to the hotel, the first thing that he would expect is a clean environment with a pleasant appearance. It is ensured by the hotel that customers would receive the service as per their requirements. All the departments play an important role in delivering the services to the customers.

When it comes to cleaning, it is the housekeeping department in a hotel which is responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance and aesthetic upkeep of the hotel. Just as the nomenclature signifies the role of the housekeeping is to keep a clean, comfortable and safe house. It is an extension of basic home-keeping multiplied to commercial proportions. Therefore, just as we enjoy keeping a 'Sparkling Home' for ourselves and guests visit us at home, the housekeeping department takes pride in keeping the hotel clean and comfortable, so as to create a “Home Away From Home . At home, it is generally the lady of the house on whom the mantle or responsibility of housekeeping falls. It is not surprising that this tradition extends to hotels as well, where the housekeeping department is headed by a woman in most cases and they are called as “Executive Housekeeper”.

The concept of housekeeping is simple, but when we consider a “house” of several hundred rooms and numerous public areas, the tasks become gigantic. It takes a well organized approach and technical understanding to enable housekeeping in order to cope with the volume of work.

terry service -24 hour turnaround, Valet dry cleaning and garment cleaning, Double Delivery – Multiple

deliveries in a dry, Household items – shower curtains, blankets, Custom Services- for unique, rapidly

changing needs, Leather and suede cleaning and F&B items – like napkins, tablecloths. The more

efficient laundry service, the more hygienic hotel environment and the more attraction for the guest.

Florist Department:- It is well said “Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the soul.” Flowers are widely used for interior decoration; it gives aesthetic appeal to the ambiance Flower arrangement may be defined as the art of organizing and grouping together plant materials to achieve harmony of form, color, and texture. They add cheer, beauty, life and happiness to the ambiance.In hotels flowers are used extensively . There are different arrangement of flower placed on different places. Large spectacular arrangement are kept in the lobby, restaurant and small arrangement are kept in rooms, suites. The extent to which flowers are used in hotel interior depends on the degree of luxury provided. The housekeeper is responsible for all flower arrangement and their placement in most hotels.

My assignment has nearly ended. According to what i have learnt from this experience, assignment work enhances our representation underspanding and creative skills. it help us to see an object from different angles and also increases our capability to express our own views while doing this assignment. I have learnt many important things which I hope , will helply in future. Lastly, I enjoyed a lot while doing this assignment.
