TRACK: SUSTAINABILITYZero Net Energy: Case Study IBEW Local 58IBEW Local 58, Detroit, has converted its head-quarters to a Zero Net Energy Building (ZNE). Walt Dindo�er who was deeply involved in the project will present the case study which will show how this originally 1964 constructed building of 33,000 square feet, the largest Michigan ZNE building, was transformed. Numerous energy e�ciency improve-ments were made to cut 76% of the energy con-sumption. Energy Star rating is now at 95%. TRACK: FINANCEFinancing Municipal Streetlights – The City of FraserThe City of Fraser and DTE Energy recently converted all the utility-owned streetlights in the city to LEDs. The LEDs consume about a third of the amount of electricity as conventional high-pressure sodium lights, provide superior lighting quality, have less light pollu-tion and longer-lasting bulbs, reduce maintenance costs, and provide a platform for smart city systems. The City of Fraser took advantage of rebates and low-interest financing funded by DTE Energy. Even though DTE owns the streetlights, financing o�ered through Michigan Saves allowed Fraser to finance the project. In 2006, using their great-grandmother Lala’s recipe, they started making the original pickle recipe in Brooklyn and Detroit. They continued to grow the business, and in 2009 brought all manufacturing back to Michigan (one of the largest cucumber growers in the U.S.) along with a partner warehouse in New York.
