Success through innovation

STEINEL keeps what German Quality promises

We manufacture technology for people: versatiletools that stand by DIYers and professional users in hundreds of jobs.

But to us, just having good ideas is not enough.Made by STEINEL stands for user friendliness, greatvalue for money and, what's more important, a longservice life. This is how we have become market lead-er from our early pioneering days back in 1959.Today, we develop and manufacture products ofworld renown at six locations in Europe. WithGerman Quality.

For us, ensuring that this benchmark is met thoughall stages of production means:

In-house research and development with toolmak-ing and prototype construction.

 Production at 6 European sites.

In-house production of plastics and injectionmouldings.

Quality management system certified to DIN ENISO 9001 and products that carry all of the rele-vant test marks.

Internal warehouse logistics ranging from orderpicking to just-in-time shipment world-wide.

Development of start-to-finish sales concepts, including presentation and merchandising.

 Field support, service hot line.

Heat Guns

Hot air for over 100 applications

Desoldering

Hot air can be used to undo soldered joints, e.g. incopper pipes, at 600°C. The soldered joint can be heated with pinpoint accuracy by attaching a reflectornozzle. This also goes for electronic components ondamaged circuit boards. These can be desoldered withhot air and a reduction nozzle at approx. 400°C andpulled off using special pliers once the solder melts.

Shaping

Hot air can be used for shaping plastic tiles, pipe androd without leaving burn marks. Floor tiles are heated atthe relevant part over a surface nozzle (hot air approx.200°C). Pipe and rod can be shaped or bent by evenlyheating all the way round using a reflector nozzle(approx. 250 – 500°C).

500 – 630 °C

250 – 300 °C

630 °C

600 – 400 °C

250 – 500 °CShrinking cable sleeves

In electrical engineering and electronics, cable ends, cable harnesses, soldered joints or terminal blocks areoften protected by a plastic sheath. This done by sli-ding a heat-shrinkable sleeve of the appropriate diam-eter over the connection concerned and then shrinkingit on using hot air (approx. 250 – 300°C) and a reflectornozzle.

Soldering

Hot air is suitable for soft soldering. The cleaned solder-ing point is heated at full power (630°C). The soldermust not be melted by the hot air but by the tempera-ture of the workpiece. Spot-soldering should be per-formed with reduction nozzles, pipe soldering withreflector nozzles.

Paint stripping

Virtually all oil and solvent-based paints and varnishescan be stripped cleanly from wood using hot air (500 –630°C). Attaching the surface nozzle makes workeasier on large areas, use of a window nozzle deflectsthe hot air on heat-sensitive materials.

Overlap welding

Plastic tarpaulins and coated textiles can be reliablywelded using hot air. This is done by applying the hotair (approx. 300 – 400°C) through a wide slit nozzle. The material turns soft within a matter of seconds andis firmly pressed together with a feed roller.

Hot-tool welding

Hot-tool welding can be used to butt-weld two identicalworkpieces (pipes, rods, sheet strips). At a hot air tem-perature of approx. 300°C the workpieces are runacross the tool, applying slight pressure from bothsides. The non-stick coating ensures that parts do notstick.

Fit adjustment

Hot air can be used to give plastic-shell type functionshoes (e.g. inline skate boots) an ergonomic fit. Use ofthe surface nozzle at a mid-range temperature (about200 – 400°C) is appropriate in most cases. Inlays canalso be made to fit by proceeding in a similar way.

Hot air for over 100 applications

Repairing sports equipment

Cracks or fractures, e.g. in surfboards, plastic boats, etc. are repaired quicklyand reliably with hot air. Where longcracks are involved, the damaged areashould be filled with welding rod of theappropriate material.

Welding plastic

To weld plastic, the appropriate welding rod must beselected for each material (rigid PVC, plasticised PVC,soft PE, hard PE, PP, ABS). The welding rod is offeredup to the heated seam (approx. 250 – 400°C) via weld-ing shoe (welding cord) or welding nozzle (welding rod).

Hot air system accessories

There are virtually no limits to the useof STEINEL heat guns. In many appli-cations, efficient working and optimumresults are only possible with appropri-ate accessories. This is why STEINELoffers an extensive range of attachmentnozzles, auxiliary tools and expendablematerials, all perfectly tailored in qualityand application to these heat guns. For instance, all nozzles are made fromstainless steel. As you can see, atSTEINEL there's system in hot air too.
