Installation Guide

Customer Responsibility Checklist:

Ground & Site is Prepared and has been finalized with your

Bring water test into store to confirm source water readings

Delivery pathway is free of obstacles (Snow, fences, gates, stairs, dog

droppings, swing sets, sheds, campers)

Site Size is confirmed with enough space to accommodate Cover Lift

Systems, Steps and any other accessory that takes up more space

than the tub itself.

Day before Delivery: Check site and delivery pathway. Confirm site is

still level and ready for delivery. Have hose available and ready for our

delivery crew to hook up (do not leave hose outside in freezing

temperatures)

Day of Delivery: Customer MUST be present at time of delivery. Site is

free of all snow and debris.

Ground Preparation

Customer is responsible for providing level, adequate support. Whether the

site is new construction or existing, here are the options:

Structurally engineered decks (if you know general construction, we can advise

weight-baring loads)

Ground-level patios

Concrete slab (do NOT pitch, must be level)

Crushed stone bases that are famed in with 4” X 4”’s

Ground-level or elevated wooden deck platforms

Pre-fabricated plastic base (SmartDeck shown below)

All sites need to be level. Be sure that the site can accommodate the space

needed for any additional accessories like Cover Lift Systems, Steps etc. On

delivery day, the site and delivery pathway must be cleared of all snow and

any other obstruction. Pictures of completed sites are encouraged and

should be sent to your salesperson.

Beam, SX, TX, and all FreeFlow hot tubs. Review the Pros and Cons to see if upgrading the

electrical of your hot tub is a good option for you. Contact your salesperson if you would

like to upgrade to 220V.

Electric Installation

There are many different ways that a hot tub can be wired and does truly depend on

the exact model and/or brand that you purchase. This means that pre-existing wiring

may not be sufficient if it doesn’t meet the requirements for your new hot tub.

Your salesperson will provide you with electrical schematics for your new hot tub.

Wiring schematics should be given to your electrician to ensure proper wiring of your

hot tub, and all electrical work needs to be completed before the hot tub is delivered.

115V hot tubs have a cord with a GFCI end and 10 ft of usable cord. The 20AMP

receptacle box must be installed within 10 ft of the hot tub prior to delivery and the hot

tub must be the only appliance powered on that circuit.

220V hardwired hot tubs need to include a whip (flexible conduit with all wires) from your subpanel to the electrical cutout on the hot tub and an extra 4 ft of wiring from your electrician. This ensures that we have enough slack to connect the wires inside the hot tub and start up the tub on delivery.

WATKINS MANUFACTURING – “To ensure you will have an opportunity to use your spa soon after

delivery, it is very important that the required electrical service has been installed. Unless otherwise

stipulated by your dealer, THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

IMPORTANT: All electrical circuits must be installed by a qualified, licensed electrician.”

You can NOT run a hot tub on an extension cord.

WHIP

Water Source

Please bring a water sample to your local store for a complete analysis at

least a week before your hot tub is delivered. *Water samples should be brought in a

clean and clear container with a minimum 8oz of water.

Source water can be tricky and cause problems on delivery if we don’t have

the complete picture of what your water is comprised of. By bringing us a

water sample, we can bring the necessary products to get you soaking in

your hot tub faster.

You must provide an adequate length hose and water supply to get your new

hot tub filled and heating on delivery. Prior to deliver, here are the things we

need to know:

Are you on well or town water?

Do you have access to an outside hose that will reach the hot tub?

Can your well accommodate the 140-500 gallons it can take to fill your hot tub

model?

Do you have large deposits of metals (iron, copper, manganese), or high levels of

calcium in your water source?

Do you have low water pressure that could extend the time it takes to fill the hot

tub? *Fill time is limited to 90 minutes

Please share all of this information with your salesperson to ensure a smooth

delivery.

Ask us about water delivery options, we can refer you to a local water hauler

if you prefer not to use your source water.

Scheduling Your Delivery

There are a few things that could affect the ordering and delivery timeframe of your

new hot tub, such as:

Did you purchase an in-stock model? If so, once your site and electrical are

complete we can schedule your hot tub delivery. Check with your salesperson to

finalize delivery information and get on the delivery schedule. (We schedule

deliveries ~3 weeks out, please check-in with your salesperson when you feel you

will be ready for delivery within 3 weeks)

Was your hot tub a special order from the factory? Factory ordered Hot Spring

models can take up to 8 weeks to be manufactured and shipped to us from

California. We can schedule your delivery once your hot tub is received at our

warehouse and your site is fully prepared. Check with your salesperson to finalize

delivery information and get on the delivery schedule. (We schedule deliveries ~3

weeks out, please check-in with your salesperson when you feel you will be ready

for delivery within 3 weeks)

When do you plan on, or when did you purchase? Our delivery schedule can fill

and back up during the spring, around the holidays, and towards the end of sales

or events like the Hanover Home Life Expo or Champlain Valley Fair.

Once we have your hot tub, your salesperson will call you to finalize delivery

information and find ideal days/times that work best for you it schedule delivery.

Our Delivery Crews

We use two delivery crews depending on your location, delivery needs, and scheduling

availability. We schedule deliveries and hot tub start ups by area and the delivery type most

efficient.

1: Uses a truck and trailer.

The hot tub will be placed per customer’s instructions, unwrapped, and cover installed.

o Customer MUST be home on delivery to ensure proper placement of the hot tub.

The delivery crew will:

o Remove and dispose of all hot tub wrappings

o Install all accessories

o Fill, start, and give you a tutorial on how to best enjoy and maintain your hot tub.

2: Uses a moffet lift (a truck piggybacked with a small 8’ wide forklift).

*Can sometimes fit through a 5’ opening* (pictures required and a site evaluation to

confirm)

Lift can raise up to 12’ high (great for 2nd story decks if conditions allow)

The hot tub will be placed per customer’s instructions, unwrapped, and cover installed.

(Do not uncover the hot tub for any reason)

o Customer MUST be home on delivery to ensure proper placement of the hot tub. A

service technician will come out at a later date/time to assist in filling and starting

the tub and we CANNOT move the tub with one technician.

o It is crucial that you have your site mapped out to accommodate enough space for

the tub, cover lifter, steps and other accessories.

A service technician will be scheduled to come out at a later date/time to:

o Remove and dispose of hot tub wrappings

o Install all accessories

o Fill, start, and give you a tutorial on how to best enjoy and maintain your hot tub.
