Flight vs Hotel Search and BookingWhile the timing of flight searches and booking is similar across guests of all hotel segments globally, there are differencesacross destination regions. Sameday booking of hotel and flight is popular with Latin American destinations, while flightbookings happen more often before hotel bookings for Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The Relationship Between Flight Class and Hotel SegmentGuests staying at Luxury segment hotels are more likely to have arrived at their destination on aBusiness or First Class ticket. In general, the higher the hotel segment, the more likely the use ofnon-Economy flights. Upper Midscale hotels are the exception to the norm, with a larger proportionof travelers arriving at destination on first and business class tickets (11%) than the hotel segmentabove it, Upscale (8%), and on par with Upper Upscale (also 11%).
Looking at global flight search data however, the share of non-Economy events shrinks to roughly1% and below. When searching for a flight, travelers look for available dates, airports anddeparture times before choosing the class.

Hotel Searches Prior to Booking Date by Booked Segment
Frequency of Hotel SearchesThe earlier travelers start to research potential hotels to stay at, the more searches they conduct on average. Interestingly,we did not find a big variance in the number of searches for travelers who started their research between 2 and 30 daysbefore the booking. Guests of Luxury segment hotels have the highest number of searches on average. Upper Midscalebookers have the second highest number of searches because on average they start their research earlier.
