HOUCK MIDDLE SCHOOL
DEAR HOUCK FAMILIES,
We have recently completed our first semester of the 2019-20
school year, and we have maintained our amazing start!
The previous year we strived to work on strengthening and
developing our parent involvement/engagement opportunities.
As a part of this continued work, we will continue to publish
newsletters once every two months to keep appraised of
important upcoming events, and to celebrate the great work
that is occurring within the community. We value your
commitment and devotion to your students, and we seek to
strengthen our partnership with you!
Our mission states “Be part of the P.A.C.K….Achieving Excel-
lence Together”. To support student success in the classroom,
all Houck students were provided with a 3 inch binder and
supplies at the beginning of the school year. Additionally, all
students were enrolled in an Advisory class which meets
weekly. This class is designed to help promote and encourage
team-building , community, and to support school wide
expectations for both behavior and academics.
To improve our student’s academic growth and development,
we continue to provide courses to support students in Math
and Language Arts. We are also offering Study Skill elective
opportunities to provide additional time and support to
complete required assignments.
We also value having you partner with us as we engage in this
work to ensure that ‘all students graduate and are prepared tor
a prosperous and successful life’. We look forward to building
positive working relationships with you to best support the

Recientemente hemos completado nuestras primer
simestre para el año escolar del 2019-20, ¡y hemos mantenido
nuestro comienzo increíble! El año anterior nos esforzamos por
trabajar para fortalecer y desarrollar nuestras oportunidades de
participación / participación de los padres. Como parte de este
trabajo continuo, continuaremos publicando boletines una vez

eventos importantes y para celebrar el gran trabajo que está

Nuestra misión dice "Ser parte del P.A.C.K ... logrando la
excelencia juntos". Para apoyar el éxito de los estudiantes en el
aula, todos los estudiantes de Houck recibieron una carpeta de 3
pulgadas y útiles al comienzo del año escolar. Además, todos los
estudiantes se inscribieron en una clase de asesoramiento, que se
reúne semanalmente. Esta clase está diseñada para ayudar a
promover y fomentar el trabajo en equipo, la comunidad y para
apoyar las expectativas de toda la escuela, tanto para el
comportamiento como para los académicos.
Para mejorar el crecimiento y desarrollo académico de
nuestros estudiantes, continuamos brindando cursos para apoyar
a los estudiantes en Matemáticas y Artes del Lenguaje. También
ofrecemos oportunidades optativas de Habilidad de estudio para
proporcionar tiempo y apoyo adicionales para completar las
tareas requeridas.

Houck Middle School Apparel for sale. Come get
your Houck sweatshirts and shirts. If you are inter-
ested in getting some Husky gear, you can get more
information from the Bookkeeper.

Their will be a no tardy party here at Houck on Friday, March 13.
In order to qualify, students can’t have any tardies from February 4th through March 5th.
The no tardy party will take place during 7th period and ice cream will be served to

notebooks etc. can all be found at the Lost and Found table near the Husky Hut. Students should check regularly. All items are put
out at conferences will be given away if not claimed.

(PT) Screening. This allows for your child
to access PT services such as crutch safe-
ty/mobility review and adjust-
ment if needed.

SCHOOL PROGRAM
Before and After school programs inspire and engage kids
in learning, keep them safe, and help working families.
When we help Students develop relationships with caring
adults, provide healthy warm meals, and engage families
with schools, we are not only feeding bellies but also
feeding minds. Our Enrichment Academy runs
Monday– Thursdays from 2:50-4:45pm. We offer several
activities such as tutoring, Futsal, Lego robotics, cooking
class, art class, cursive writing,
satellite gaming, and gardening.

“Future Viking Night” at North Salem
High School
It is time to get ready for High School! Join us on
Wednesday, February 19th
from 6-8:00 p.m. for Future Viking Night. The North
Salem High School staff have an evening of fun events
planned to provide parents, guardians, and students
with information to make a successful transition to high
school. Sessions will be available in English and Spanish.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the general session begins
at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please arrive in time to
sign in your student before the general session begins.
A tour of high-interest classes is available, and students
will have an opportunity to sign up for summer school,
athletics, and clubs. It is going to be fun, so be sure to
attend!

Vaccinations
Attention all parents if your child has not had
all of their vaccinations done and presented to
the school by February 19th they will not be
allowed to attend school until all vaccina-

We are proud to announce that Wednesday night Houck students auditioned for the All-City Choir.
We had 15 students compete with at least 150 others students in the district to be a part of this
choir. Out of the 15 students who showed up to audition, we had 10 make it!
In addition to this, out of the 12 different middle schools that had students audition, Houck Middle School had the 2nd most students make the All-City Choir!
Last year we only had 2 students make the All-City Choir.
