Where Art Thou?to people. This bronze equestrian statue of Joan of Arc by Paul Dubois, is on a three-tiered granite base by H.L. Davis and is situated at the lower entrance of nearby Meridian Hill Park.

As many of you noted in your responses, this

photo shows her without her sword, which was stolen in 1978, although it was eventually replaced. The statue was restored in 1994 as part of the “Save Outdoor Sculpture!” campaign in DC.

Mark your calendars! On Saturday, July 29th, Calvert House is hosting its annual Beer and Bratwurst Summer Social. Join your friends and neighbors on the second floor terrace for some fresh grilled brats and ice-cold beer.

Vegetarians and teetotalers, we’ve got you covered! There will be something for everyone at this event, including grilled lemon chicken salad, vegan dogs, black bean chipotle taquitos, cucumber and tomato salad, watermelon, peach and blueberry fruit bowl, delicious sweets and lemonade.

As you know, Calvert House is a great location for viewing the Fourth of July fireworks. Once again, we will have courtesy officers on the roof deck to look after everyone’s safety and viewing enjoyment. The officers will be handing out water and soda and ensuring residents comply with the roof deck rules (posted at both entrances). Remember, NO fireworks, sparklers or glass containers are permitted. Have a happy and safe holiday!

Calvert House has a new dog! While we continue to be a “cat only” building, the Federal Fair Housing Act requires landlords to permit reasonable accommodations for tenants with disabilities, where a doctor or other medical care provider certifies that a tenant would benefit from being allowed

to have a dog or other pet not ordinarily allowed in a building. We now have three service dogs in the building. Puffy, Cooper and now, Truffle. Here’s a photo of Truffle (above) so you can distinguish him from other dogs that are not allowed into the building. Please continue to report any unauthorized animals to the office.
