Re: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, CN2007-021
Dear Mr. Grant:
As State Representative for Tipton County, I am writing to express my support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s pending application for a certificate of need to provide home health services to its patients in Fayette, Shelby, and Tipton counties.
For nearly 60 years, St. Jude has been committed to providing unparalleled pediatric patient care and treatment to children battling complex, life-threatening diseases. This commitment is what has prompted St. Jude to seek permission to add home health services to its comprehensive continuum of care, diminishing the burden on families and further managing the intense medical needs of a patient population St. Jude and its personnel are uniquely trained to treat. Most other large hospitals can provide home health services, and St. Jude needs this capability too. The proposed project is sure to adhere to the highest quality standards, and it will benefit from St. Jude’s generous financial support.
I hope that the Agency will give St. Jude’s application its favorable consideration. If I can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,
Representative Debra Moody

Re: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – CN2007-021
Dear Mr. Grant:
As State Senator for Shelby County, I am writing to express my strong support for St. Jude’s pending
application for a certificate of need to provide home health services to its patients in Fayette, Shelby, and
Tipton counties.
St. Jude is a leading medical research institution for catastrophic pediatric illnesses and has long been
dedicated to delivering the highest quality care to its patients and their families. St. Jude has determined that
its mission requires the ability to care for its severely ill patient population in their homes or in St. Jude
housing facilities, where many patients and their families remain for extended periods of time. With St.
Jude’s commitment to excellence, the proposed service is certain to be high quality, and it will benefit from
St. Jude’s strong financial support. Further, because the project seeks to serve only existing St. Jude patients,
it will contribute to the orderly development of healthcare in southwest Tennessee and beyond.
I urge the Agency to approve St. Jude’s application and allow St. Jude to continue providing the best
pediatric patient care.
Respectfully,
Senator Raumesh Akbari

Dear Mr. Grant:
I strongly support the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a constituent/an entity within Tennessee
Legislative District 86 representing Memphis and part of Shelby County who has applied for the
Certificate of Need Application CN 2007-021.
St Jude is known worldwide for its endless amount of “good” done in our state of Tennessee, states in our
nation and countries around the world. The hospital meets the criteria and is absolutely, eccentrically
qualified to implement the program as designed using creative models that can be applied in other
counties around the state subsequently, increasing its international celebrity status, famous notoriety.
St Jude provides world renown care for children with various complex and life-threatening diseases. To
meet these challenges and facilitate the best outcomes and results, St Jude needs an opportunity and the
ability to offer its specialized care to patients and families in the home setting. St Jude is uniquely
positioned and prepared to offer this service which will further the orderly development in home-care
services.
Since the unfortunate devastating attack and spread of the deadly Coronavirus Pandemic, St Jude has
discovered and demonstrated that homecare service can successfully be administered and provided for
many patients remotely relieving their families the burden from campus visits. Due to the lack of quality
healthcare in these areas and especially the COVID-19 pandemic are significant reasons why it is urgent
that St Jude be approved to serve the counties of Tipton, Fayette and Shelby.
There is no doubt that St Jude will uphold the standards of the project with expert personnel to ensure
meritorious service for the designated areas and subsequently, providing models across Tennessee.
As a member of the House Health Standing Committee and the Facilities, Licensure and Regulations
Subcommittee, I am humbly asking your consideration and approval for the acceptance of the St. Jude’s
Certificate of Need Application.
I strongly support and urge approval of the St Jude Certificate of Need Application and encourage your
contact for further assistance.
Respectfully,
Barbara Cooper

Mr. Logan Grant Executive Director Tennessee Health Services & Development Agency Andrew Jackson Building, 9th Floor 502 Deaderick Street Nashville, TN 37243 Re: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – CN2007-021 Dear Mr. Grant: Throughout my career, I have been privileged to serve the people of Shelby County as former State Senator, former Shelby County Register of Deeds, and currently as State Representative to District 99. I have seen the good St. Jude does for Memphis and patients across the globe, and I write this letter in support of its pending certificate of need application to initiate home health services for its patients in Fayette, Shelby, and Tipton counties. As a member of the House Health Committee, I am confident that the proposed project satisfies the Agency’s criteria for approving a certificate of need. As one of the world’s leading medical research institutions, patients and families trust St. Jude to handle the most challenging, life-threatening pediatric diseases. St. Jude consistently strives to deliver the best pediatric patient care to patients and their families, and it must be able to offer home-based care to its medically fragile patient population in home and other residential settings. The project will contribute to the orderly development of healthcare in Fayette, Shelby, and Tipton counties by focusing on St. Jude patients with special needs. I hope you will give St. Jude’s application your favorable consideration. If I can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely,

Re: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Certificate of Need Application CN2007-021
Dear Mr. Grant:
As State Representative for Shelby County residents in District 88 for the last 27 years, I write this letter in strong
support of St. Jude’s certificate of need application to provide home health services to its patients.
St. Jude leads the world in the treatment of pediatric cancer and other rare, life-threatening pediatric diseases.
Unlike other hospitals, St. Jude believes that, even in the midst of catastrophic illnesses, a child should be able to live as
normal a childhood as possible. Providing care to patients in the comfort of their own homes undoubtedly furthers this
sense of normalcy and allows St. Jude to continue improving patient outcomes and results. Because the project
focuses on St. Jude’s established, medically unique patient population, the project readily contributes to the orderly
development of healthcare in Fayette, Shelby, and Tipton counties.
As a member of the House Health Committee, I can assure you that this project is deserving of the Agency’s
approval and satisfies all requirements for granting a certificate of need. Thank you for your attention in this matter. If I
can provide any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Grant:
As Mayor of the City of Memphis, I am writing to express my strong support for St. Jude’s pending
application for a certificate of need to provide home health services to its patients.
Memphis is fortunate to be the home of St. Jude, one of the world’s leading medical research
institutions. Given St. Jude’s focus on pediatric cancer care, it needs the ability to provide home-based care to
its unique patient population and their families in order to ensure the best outcomes and results. Most other large
hospital providers have this capability, and St. Jude needs this capability too. With St. Jude’s commitment to

support. The project will contribute to the orderly development of healthcare in the service area.
I hope you will give St. Jude’s application your favorable consideration. Do not hesitate to contact me if

As chair of the House Facilities, Licensure, and Regulations Subcommittee and member of the House Health Committee, I am confident the proposed project satisfies the Agency’s requirements for granting a certificate of need. St. Jude strives to provide world-class pediatric patient care to its patients and their families.
