How can songs and poetry help to enhance interpersonal development in young learner? Songs and poetry are useful in building young learner’s interpersonal development. They help young learners’ interpersonal development via enhancing their communicative skills, building their awareness towards social norms and helping them to understand social subtleties. No man is an island in the society we reside in. Strong communicative skills are bridges that link us to others in the society. Songs and poetry are the pillars in building these bridges. Loosely put, songs and poetry are composed to convey certain messages intended by writers and musicians alike. Students who are exposed and taught well using songs and poetry at a young age should be able to express their feelings via poem and songs. They are more creative and expressive in using words. Besides that, as they understand all texts contain meaning, they are more likely to understand what others are trying to deliver. This helps them to respond appropriately.
