how did you use media technology in the construction and research
TRANSCRIPT
During the process of researching, one of the main media technologies we used was the computer to get access to the internet. This was so we could search for different documentaries to give us idea of their features and what key conventions we would need to include when planning our documentary. Looking at different documentaries via a range of different websites such as; Documentary Heaven, 4OD, E-Entertainment online, Documentary.org and YouTube to view a range of different documentary.
During the process of planning we used media technologies to communicate with each other. Using technologies such as; Skype, Mobile phone which allows to do a conference call of all the group is updated and through social network sites such as; Facebook. Using these technologies we were able to plan out when to meet up, if anything was needed to be changed or updated on the blog and what we could do to based around our main task and ancillary task.
Planning stages – we sketched our ideas and drew out story boards to plan our days ahead of shooting and editing. We used a scanner to upload all our planning onto the blog to keep a record of what we have done.
We initially were using the Sony PD170 which was good some extent however the quality of the footages was not in HD quality and found that it was big and heavy to carry around everywhere.
Cannon EOS 60D
Therefore we started using the Cannon 60D to shoot our footages which we felt was more advanced, great quality and easier to use and carry in comparison to the Sony PD170.
Recording equipment
To record our sound we used the boom and the Zoom H4n to provide us with the clearest sound for our documentary. To record Foley sounds and interviews we use the boom as it was allowed us to keep a distance from the sound being recorded.
We used the Zoom H4n to record our own sound that we created using Xylophone to include for our documentary.
We used a tri-pod when filming what we wanted to use as a time-lapse and for interviews to have a steady footage.
Used cannon digital camera to take pictures for behind the scene.
Lights for interviews so there is enough light provided to create the effect of how real media product documentaries form in their interviews (bright).
Software's – Adobe Premiere Elements 10, Adobe Premiere Pro, After effects and Adobe Photoshop CS5.1.
We edited all our footages on Adobe Premiere Pro because it provided us all the tools to create a successful documentary.
In Adobe After-Effects we were able to colour correct our footages for it to look appealing and also to stabilize any shaky camera movement. Moreover we also used it to create our logos.
Adobe photo-shop provided us all the tools essential in the process of creating the poster.
We used social networking sites to gain audience feedback. Using Facebook we uploaded our documentary to see what the audience though of our documentary and if there was any improvements needed to be make.
YouTube was another key social network site we uploaded our documentary to.
We used Word Press blog to keep record of all the work done over the year.
Evaluation stage. For the evaluation stages I used the following; Camtasia Studio edit my evaluation for question 1 and 2, Power point presentation and Microsoft work to plan out what is going to be ether said or the text inserted during the process of using Camtasia Studio.
