Firstly, all documents created using these services are quickly and easily stored away in Google Drive. This was very useful because having all our files in the cloud meant that I could easily share files of importance (such as the call sheets our narrative presentation slideshow) with my partners. In addition, the software is also compatible with phones and tablets. This was useful for being able to edit small sections of documents whilst travelling as well as allowing me to quickly show documents to my partners without requiring my laptop to do so (a real advantage to using a web based program). How did you use new media technologies in the construct and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Product 3: Array of Google Services:Product Overview:Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides are a word processor, a spreadsheet and a presentation program respectively, all part of a free, web-based software office suite offered by

Google within its Google Drive service. The suite allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users in real-time.

Why I chose it:I chose to use these Google service for a number of reasons. This was useful for being able to edit small

sections of documents whilst travelling as well as allowing me to quickly show documents to my partners without requiring my laptop to do so (a real advantage to using a web based program). On top of this, the software allowed us to collaborate on documents in real time. This was extremely useful when completing group work as we could each add items to the

2 document; allowing us to bounce ideas off one another without being together in a room. Another useful feature was that finished documents could be convert into Microsoft Word and PowerPoint files which made it far easier to upload them to our blogs (via Slideshare). Alternatively, all these services also allowed me to publish the documents to the web, letting me easily embed them into blog posts.

Alternatives?

Alternatives were considered and, on occasion, used. Are main worry was that a lack of/poor internet connection would prevent us from accessing our documents in the cloud. As such, we made sure that every completed document was converted into Word and PowerPoint files allowing use to see and edit them offline when needed. Furthermore, being a web based platform meant that the software lacked certain capabilities that other programs have. The most notable example of this was that, until it was created and finalised, Google Docs couldn’t be used for group editing the script (leading us to use Celtx to do most of the work on it).

How we used it:I used these Google services for multiple parts of my project. After purchasing my Chromebook, Google Docs and Google Sheets became my primary means of creation documents and slideshows for my pre-production. Aforementioned, Google Drive was used to store all of my files allowing me to easily access them on any device at anytime (as well as share them with my partners).I also utilised some of the lesser known Google services such as Google Forms to create questionnaires that gave me feedback on my Ancillary Texts.
