How did you use new media technologies in the research and planning, construction and

evaluation stages?

Planning and Research

When it came to research we used new media technologies in the form of various websites such as http://www.newgrounds.com/ and http://www.unsigned.com/ to research different songs and artists.

When researching music videos and theories we had learnt in class we used http://www.youtube.com/ and embedded videos onto http://www.blogger.com/

Planning dates for filming was mainly done either in person or over the phone with each other.

Planning the location however, involved using google maps and the new street view which allows us to see each location without having to actually travel there!

Planning our storyboard involved using a digital camera to take pictures for the animatic.

When planning what audience to target and what genre of music to go for we asked some people on http://www.facebook.com/ and when it came to asking our chosen artist for music we used http://www.hotmail.com to contact them and to receive the mp3 file.

ConstructionWe used different technologies for constructing different things.

For the construction of our animatic we used the digital camera as well as the imac computers using the video editing software Final cut Express.

Constructing our music video required the use of a HD video camera as well as our phones to take pictures of certain senarios. As well as this we had also used the lighting equipment in the drama room which was a new experience.

When editing our music video we had again used final cut express in combination with Livetype which allowed us to create better looking titles in one of our test videos.

Furthermore, we used Bluetooth to send the pictures from our phones onto the imac computers which sped up the sending process and no wires were needed.

In the process of constructing our magazine advert we made use of software packages such as Microsoft Publisher and a photo editing software called Photoshop.

We also used Photoshop in the construction of our digipak because it is a very powerful and capable software package.

EvaluationIn my evaluation I made sure to use a variety of new technologies such as survey monkey in combination with Microsoft Excel to portray the results we collected from our questionnaire.

Other technologies include Wordle to create word clouds which can help illustrate key words from some text; useful when an opinion is needed.

Also in my evaluation is the use of slide share which allows me to publish PowerPoint presentations onto my blog.
