What is First Language Acquisition?
The term first language acquisitionrefers to children's natural acquisitionof the language or languages theyhear from birth.

Stages of first language acquisition
Before First Words (Babbling stage)
First Words Around 12 months (One-word stage)
By the age of 2 (Two-word stage)
By the age of 4 (Most children are able to speak)
Before First Words (Babbling stage)
Babies use sounds to reflect the characteristics
of the different language they are learning. E.g.
Ba-ba…, Ma-ma…, Ka-ka… so on.

First Words Around 12 months (One-word stage)
One or two recognizable words.
Single-word sentences.

By the age of 2 (Two-word stage/toddlers)
At least 50 different words.
Telegraphic sentences e.g., “Mommy juice”, “baby fall down”
Creatively combining words. e.g., “more outside”, “all gone cookie”

Ask questions.
Give command.
Create stories about imaginary ones with correct word order and grammatical markers most of the time.

ConclusionIn conclusion, I think language acquisition refers to the process where a normally developed child is able to become a proficient language user without having to make apparently difficult efforts.
