You need to furlough workers that are no longer in workdue to the effects of Coronavirus, these employees mustbe given the choice to accept this.

What is staff furloughing?

These staff remain on payroll with you. Government willreimburse you as the employer the 80% of wages. Theywill not pay your employees directly. Government areworking on measures to set up a system which willreimburse you.

Furloughing staff is subject tocontract law, it might be useful foryou to contact our HR helplinewho can advise you.

What are my options if staffdon't agree to being furloughed?

FurloughUnpaid leaveRedundancy

Options for employees if your business hasbeen affected by Coronavirus:

Initially set up for three months, the Coronavirus JobRetention Scheme will be extended if the UKGovernment feel it is necessary. Employers are welcome to "top up" staff wages so theyare paid all of their usual wages: 20% from theiremployer and 80% from the Government.

Staff furlough is a temporary leaveof employees due to the needs ofa company or employer - in thiscase, because of loss of businessamidst the pandemic. It is a termused to avoid laying off or makingstaff redundant.
