How Do I Tell If My Child Is Ready For Preschool?
Parents need to meet the physical and emotional needs of the child by
constantly encouraging their little ones and certainly with time, children are
sure to love their school.
The first day of preschool starts with a lot of anxiety and apprehension both for the child as well
as parents. This is a common response in preschoolers when they have to face anything or
anybody new. As a parent, one requires meeting the physical and emotional needs by
constantly encouraging their little ones. Eventually with time, children are sure to love their
nursery school. However, the main question remains, how do you tell if your child is ready for
preschool? Quite honestly, there is
no such sure answer that applies to
all kids, for the simple reason that
each one is unique in their own way.
Ascertaining the answers to this
major question, it will be chiefly
dependent on a parent’s instincts
along with family values, habits, and
likings. Given below are a few
guidelines to help you find out your
child’s willingness to take up school:
Is he self-sufficient?
Children at nurseries are generally made to do plenty of things related with arts and crafts. If
you see your little one being engrossed all by himself, then yes, he would love to go to
preschool. However, if he doesn’t then you can always play with him to find out activities that
will keep him entertained. And, gradually he will learn to keep himself occupied with things that
interest him.
Can he follow a schedule?
Kindergarten around the world and not just UAE follow a conventional routine. They have a
fixed time to go out and play, have snacks, involve the children in activities, have lunch, etc.

This is because, studies have shown, that
children tend to feel the most comfortable when
things are repeated and carried out in a fun
manner. So, if your child doesn’t have a fixed
routine, make sure you do so. For instance,
give him his meals on time, read him a book
before he takes a nap, take him to the park, etc.
Can he stay away from you?
Kids, who have attended day care nurseries or
have been comfortable with nannies and
babysitters, find it a lot more comfortable in making the transition from home to school.
Certainly, this does not mean that a child cannot handle going to school, it just means he may
need a little more time than the rest of the children. The nursery will be able to help you and
your kids to prepare from the start and to work through separation anxiety.
