GOD LOVES
A CHEERFUL GIVER
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
How do we know what we believe?
How do we know
we indeed have faith?
Because we have seen his hands and
his feet in the poor around us.
Dorothy Day

From Father Phil
My Dear Parishioners, It is a joy to back with you again after my trip to England. Visiting towns associated with my formative years was gratifying. My old seminary visit brought me much joy as I visited the Pugin-designed chapel and the tiny side chapels built in the days when a large number of priests living together would celebrate individual masses daily at individual altars. The sacred images of martyrs reminded me of the preciousness of the gift of faith, while the gardens, with its circular path, which as a student I would walk daily, brought to mind the cyclic nature of life, death, and rebirth. On returning home I witnessed again the energy and the commit-ment of staff, builders, and parishioners to the renewal of our parish. I am grateful for a vision that was shared and is coming to fruition. Like the man in today’s gospel, we might say that we have built bigger barns, but we do not sit back and say, if you will permit me to paraphrase: “We have many good things; let us rest, eat, drink, be merry.” I would like to suggest that a model to protect us from such com-placency be Dorothy Day, co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement. She writes of the need to go out and find Christ in the poor:
How do we know what we believe?
How do we know we indeed have faith?
Because we have seen his hands and his feet in the poor around
us. He has shown himself to us in them. We start by loving them
for him and soon we love them for themselves, each one a
unique person, most special! Dorothy Day, “The Mystery of the Poor,” Catholic Worker (April 1964): 8. May the Blessed and the Saints bless us and our endeavors as we enter our church building once more. With every good wish and prayer for you and our parish, Fr. Phil Lloyd Pastor

Getting Ready for the Move
Come Let Us Adore Him – The Art of Kneeling
I n our life as Catholics, we use lots of different physical postures and movements to reflect what is happening to us on the inside. At the Our Father, we are standing, hands folded for some, hands extended in the ancient prayer position for others and hands holding hands in a
position of universal embrace. Each posture reflects a difference in the way and what of our prayers.
Kneeling in the liturgy is associated with a variety of interior attitudes – including penitence, adoration, and humility according to the HarperCollins Encyclopedia of Catholicism.
The General Instructions to the Roman Missal has a lot to say about pos-ture in the Mass,
While we celebrate Sunday Mass in the gym, we had a reasonable cause not to kneel on the gym floor and so have made it our practice to stand in unison and with reverence through the Eucharistic prayer and after the Lamb of God. Now, however, as we return to the Church complete with kneelers, we will return to the normative practice of the Church in the United States which is to kneel during the Eucharistic Prayer and after the Lamb of God. It may take some getting used to kneeling as it took us a while to get used to standing. The important thing is to hold onto the ide-als of unity and noble simplicity that are reflected in the shared action of adoration that is kneeling. So in humble adoration, let us kneel when we go back to celebrating Mass in the Church.
In anticipation of returning to the Church, we will present a series of articles to help St. Theresa Community prepare for the move into the Church.
See below for the seventh article of the series.

We greatly appreciate the opportunity to share the good news of serving the poor through
the kindness and generosity of St. Theresa Catholic
Church parishioners. We're happy to report that 86
children, youth and elderly friends found sponsors.
We hope you enjoyed volunteering
at the sponsorship table. By volunteering, you helped to increase the number of children
who were chosen for sponsorship and provided valuable support to
our presenter.

We are selling the piano that we currently use in the gym in order to
help us buy the new keyboard. (Don’t worry, we will maintain the piano that we currently have in the
new church choir loft. The 5:30 Sunday Mass group will play
downstairs and use the electronic keyboard.).
We encourage interested parties to look at the piano after any Mass in
the gym, and to contact Enrique Benitez at
