how does congenital cataract cause esotropia

1
How does congenital cataract cause esotropia? Congenital cataract blocks vision in the eye. This causes an unequal visual input breaking up the fusion mechanism joining the visual axis of the two eyes. When the two eyes no longer have a common visual experience they can become misaligned. In youth, this misalignment usually results in esotropia. - Eugene M. Helveston, M.D.
