British Stereotype

Reality TV- popular among young people

Representations of Young People

Throughout the models are all young to appeal to young people, however the young people shown themselves are presented as innocent and warm through the use of colour and posing.

This magazine is aimed at young people and because of this text is spilt up to conform to the convention that young people have short attention spans. This presents young people as lazy with connotations of being a ‘slacker.’

Representations of The British

There are some common British stereotypes amongst the text such as that all British people love home and tea. These stereotypes present the British as quirky but have positive connotations so I decided to include them as they positive.

Representations of Women

All the models that were shown were women, therefore women were represented on each and every page.

Mostly feminine colours were used to appeal to women and to represent them, this conforms to the convention that all women like pinks, purples and pastels however since this convention is often correct I have used it.

Representations of Middle Class

The magazine is directed at the middle class and the price conveys this is it is affordable yet expensive enough for it to be of quality.

The location shot for the double page spread is directed at the middle class, as the ski resort is a luxury destination which would be utilised by the middle class. Showing the location is often used as a marketing technique therefore the product of the ski resort is directed at those who can afford it i.e. the middle class.
