How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary

texts?

Video

• Overall the video has followed codes and conventions successfully, created audience appeal and was produced smoothly and professionally. This, along with feedback has shown that this media text is successful.

• The picturesque, rural city of York reflects the Indie genre quite well and this was a running theme throughout all of the products created.

Digipak

• The use of the two main characters from the music video in the digipak creates a sense of cohesion. This could relate to a consistent theme running throughout the album/lyrics. Using these characters (along with the backdrops in the imagery) could help to create one image of Two Door Cinema Club. This could be related to easily by the audience and would make it easier for companies to market and therefore sell the brand.

Live DVD

• Using a live DVD as part of the ancillary texts would help promote the album. This in turn could create a hype throughout the fan base and could lead them onto the Music video that has been produced.

• Not much is mentioned about the live DVD in terms of the marketing, but this could create mystery and would cause the stereotypically middle-class educated fans to research the band and the products associated.

Band Image

• The product relates to the “brand” as it shows the band as a product. Close-up shots of certain types of guitar/drums are shown so that it will help boost sales for other companies (cross-media convergence)

• Marketing will be easier as conventions are followed quite specifically which will make other elements of advertising more effective.
