Despite 97% scientific agreement, 50% of peopleare skeptical about global warming. But datashow that the avg. surface temperature has risen 1.4 degrees in last 100 years.

Is the Jury Still Out on Global Warming?

• 2010 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences report found that more than 97% of active climate scientists agreed with past findings of widespread evidence that global warming is happening.

• A national poll (US) of 751 people finds that 66% responded, "`there is a lot of disagreement among scientists about whether or not global warming is happening' (45%), `most scientists think that global warming is not happening' (5%) or they `do not know enough to say' (16%).“ [50% of people believe that global warming is not happening or scientists have a lot of disagreement.]

• Learning that global warming seems to be happening (a roughly 1.4 degree increase in global average surface temperatures over the last century according to a 2010 National Academy of Science report), shifts people with "disengaged“ views about global warming into seeing it as a priority.

Is the “Occupy” movement a consciousness shift led by the next generation?

• I love that they are spontaneous, leaderless and open-ended. I love that the protesters refuse to issue specific demands beyond a forceful call for economic justice. ….. I love that there are no rules, just tendencies.

• I love that when Occupy Wall Street was denied permission to use bullhorns, demonstrators came up with an alternative straight out of Monty Python, or maybe “The Flintstones”: Have everyone within earshot repeat a speaker’s words, verbatim and in unison, so the whole crowd can hear. It works — and sounds tremendously silly. 

• Most of all, I love that the Occupy protests arise at just the right moment and are aimed at just the right target. This could be the start of something big and important.

• Primarily directed against economic and social inequality. 

• Occupy Wall Street in New York City, on September 17, 2011.

• By October 9, Occupy protests in over 95 cities across 82 countries. 

• “We are the 99%” refers to the vast concentration of wealth among the top 1% of income earners compared to the other 99%, and indicates that most people are paying the price for the mistakes of a tiny minority.

• In shifting global consciousness, will there be a backlash against green technologies, carbon tax/carbon trading?

The world is at an uncertain divide

• The East is on the rise and the West is on the decline.

• Excesses of capitalism, and escalating costs of social benefits brought imbalances to the world, potentially pitching the young generation against the old.

• Will the vision of a green planet be shattered because it is unaffordable and too much of an economic burden on mankind?

• The key lies in the following realization:• The 99% (young and old) + Green Earth

= Better and Fairer World (The ONE Planet)• We want the 99% to win and the Earth to

win.

Can a win-win solution be based on the Integration of Systems?

• What is a system? Examples: electric power production and distribution, waste treatment, transportation, etc.

• What is a System of Systems? When one system is connected to other systems, a System of Systems is created. The City is in fact a super System of numerous Systems (man-made and natural, including human beings).

• How does Integration of Systems create new benefits?

Can a win-win solution be based on the Integration of Systems?

• Solution = integrating, automating and optimizing previously-considered isolated systems

• Innovative ways to explore synergistic relationships among proximate systems and to optimize their joint operation

• For example, bringing together systems of waste treatment, electricity production, and steam or heat production

• To produce real benefits which exceed real costs• If we publicize the Benefit-Cost studies of new

projects,• Then the world will remain committed to the path

of a green planet.
