As time passes by, the art of magic has also dramatically changed.Magicians from different countries and cultures all over the worldare continually discovering new extravagant and innovative ideason how to make their magic tricks always fresh and mystifying.
Every magician has his own story of how he got into magic.However, many of them share the same story. Some were inspiredto learn magic tricks because they happen to see a live presentationduring an event and they got curious about it. Whilst, some of themhave seen a famous magic show on television and they got stunnedwith the outstanding performance of the professional Canadianmagician.
While reading my favorite book about magic, a very interestingquestion crossed my mind. I was wondering what things havechanged in magic over the last two decades.
Magic is believed to have originated in 2500 B.C. During the ancienttimes, Egyptian magicians used different magic tricks to entertainand mesmerize their audience.
TV shows
As far as I can remember, during the last two decades, there wereonly a few television channels that aired TV magic shows. Today,you can watch different magicians performing on various magicshows aired on hundreds of television channels.
Magic has become more challenging
Gone were the days when you can easily blow your audience' mindby performing different simpler magic tricks. Once upon a time, atrick like trapping a sexy woman inside a box, cutting through thebox using a couple of blades, and showing the empty box to youraudience, or showing the woman alive, is enough to captivate youraudience' attention and to make them believe that it was a realmagic.
People of today are getting smarter and more observative. Andbecause everyone already knows that this is just a trick, the gamehas become a bit more challenging. The magician or illusionistneeds to be really good at his craft in order to amuse his audience.
Magic Performances
Before, you can only watch magic shows either through a televisionshow or by attending an event with magic performances. Now, youcan also be able to watch and enjoy different magic performancesfrom all over the world through different video sites like YouTube.
Learning magic
Learning magic tricks today is a lot quicker and easier as comparedto the last two decades. With the help of the internet, you can noweasily download new magic tricks and techniques, study them andlearn how to perform them. The availability of tutorial and videosites like YouTube also give aspiring magicians the opportunity tolearn and master different tricks and techniques without having toformally be coached by a professional magician.
There may be a few things that have changed in magic over thepast 20 years and there may be a lot of new tricks and techniquesbeing performed but the traditions have almost stayed the same.
