How much time for Vietnam?
Coming to a country for the first time may evoke a pleasant concern in some tourists. They donot know how to arrange their time to fit in visits to all the top attractions. This is the dilemmaof many visitors to Vietnam. So how much time do you have for Vietnam?
One week
From Hanoi, you should visit Halong bay on a two-day trip. That should be followed by a daytrip to the Huong ( Perfume) pagoda or to Hoa Lu - Tam Coc that often referred to as “InlandHalong Bay or you can visit some traditional villages around Hanoi. The remaining days arereserved for exploring Hanoi, the 999-year-old capital of Vietnam. From Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC) , you should take a day excursion to the Cu Chi tunnels and CaoDai holy see. After that, a three – day trip to the Mekong delta is worth taking. The beaches atLong Hai and Vung Tau are unforgettable and perfect for a two-day tour. The remainder of yourtime is for touring, shopping and eating in HCMC.
Two weeks
From Hanoi, after the previous one-week itinerary above, you can take a visit to the north-westmountain ranges in Sapa and another trip to Cuc Phuong, Ba Be or Cat Ba National Parks. From HCMC, Da Lat is the next destination after the one week itinerary. From Da Lat, a visit toNha Trang helps to change the atmosphere from the mountain to sea. Convenient flights makeit easy for you to plan your trip. You can visit Hue and Hoi An then fly back to HCMC.
One month
One month is sufficient for travelers to visit most of the sites. Starting in HCMC, after twoweeks, you should go on to Hoi An, Da Nang or Hue. A one or two day trip to the demilitarizedzone (DMZ) out of Hue and Dong Ha is an interesting remembrance of former battle fields. Then, after a flight to Hanoi, you have more than one week for visiting the places mentionedabove. Based on this itinerary, more time can be spent at the seaside and on the many activitiesthere. People can start from Hanoi, too.
The question then is how much time is enough to see most of the landscapesin Vietnam?
Our advice is 13 or 14 days. This time span allows you to travel in a relaxed manner withoutrushing anywhere or becoming tired. The tour starts in Hanoi and first stop is the unforgettableHa Long bay, then Sapa and Dien Bien Phu. One more night is spent in Hanoi before flying on toHue. On the 7 th day of the tour you should be contemplating the beauty of the temples inVietnam’s ancient capital. The Eastern Sea and marble mountains in Hoi An and Da Nangfollow, filling three more days. The remaining three or four days are for visiting and exploringHCMC, Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong delta. Tourists return to HCMC on the late afternoon ofthe 13th day. One more night at the hotel in HCMC before your departure back home.
Destination planning
Since Vietnam promises enjoyment with several exciting destinations, first ask yourself onarrival about your priorities. You can choose from several categories such as sea (Nha Trang,Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, etc) or mountain (Sapa, Da Lat, etc) , ancient landscapes (Hanoi, Hue, etc) orgreen ecology (Mekong delta), war veterans’ nostalgia (DMZ, Dien Bien Phu, Cu Chi, etc),shopping and fine cuisine (HCMC, Hanoi) or mere family indulgence (Phu Quoc, Mui Ne, NhaTrang). In the above-mentioned 13 – days itinerary, one destination from each category isincluded. In conclusion, ask yourself what your priorities are and plan your Vietnam holidayaccordingly. Of course, you can restructure your time at each destination to suite your taste.Have an excellent holiday!
