About CityConnect
This section runs through the City Centre between Wellington Road in the west through to A64 York Road in the east via Wellington Street, Boar Lane, New York Street and Marsh Lane.
Objectives:
• Provide improved pedestrian and cycle accessin the heart of the City Centre.
• Maximising safety and minimising obstruction along the Cycle Superhighway.
• Provide segregated cycle facilities wherever possible.
• Provide cycle facilities at side roads and junctions.
• Minimise confl ict between pedestrians,cyclists and motorists.
Key Features:
• Provides cycle routes to access proposed cycle parking hubs.
• Provides sections of a City Centre cycle loop.
• Shared areas between pedestrians and cyclists minimised.
• Approximately 50% of the route is Type 1 cycle track with the remaining sections being Type 2 cycle track.
• Optimisation of signal controlled crossings to allow quick and safe use by cyclists.
• Coordination with City Centre projects including the New Generation Transport (NGT).
