How the Kiwi Lost it’s Wings
A story created by Room One through Freeze Frame
Group One
How am I going to get rid of all these bugs and save the
trees?
We want to stay in the trees where we can enjoy the sunshine.
Brave kiwi. All the other animals are selfish.
I will do anything to save my
home.
Thank you kiwi for saving the forest.
Now I have to have a white feather under my
throat to show I am a coward.
I have to give up the sun and live in the dark of the night.
Group Two
I am happy living in the trees and
singing all day.
I will live on the forest floor and eat the bugs so I can save the forest
for Tanemahuta.
Tui you will be punished for not helping save the
forest.
Group
Three
I am kiwi, the most beautiful bird of them all, flying through
the ski.
Who will move to the forest floor to save the forest?
We won’t.
I gave up my home in the trees to save the forest.
Kiwi I am proud of you. You are not selfish like the other birds.
Group
Four
How did you loose your wings kiwi?
I will tell you but it’s a long
story…
I lived in the trees and Tanemahuta asked us ‘who will save the forest’ and the other
birds didn’t want to help.
I said I would live
on the forest floor so I lost
my wings and learnt to
eat bugs.
You other birds will be punished for not helping save the forest.
