• Think about the talents and skills you have.

• Set goals you believe you can accomplish.

• Tell yourself, “I can do this!”

BE ORGANIZED

• Use your agenda every day.• Use folders for your work.• Know a classmate’s # or teacher’s website.• Keep your locker and backpack neat.• Organize before you go to bed.

MANAGE YOUR TIME WELL

• Use your class time well. Start homework if your teacher allows it.

• Plan a time and place to study each day.

• Estimate the time for each of your assignments and do the longest first.

DO YOUR BEST IN THE CLASSROOM

• Know your teachers and their rules.• Come to class prepared every day.• Sit where you will pay attention.• Always do your homework.• Participate in class.• Be a good group member.

TAKE GOOD NOTES

• Be an active listener.

• Listen for clues in your teacher’s voice.

• Take notes that are easy to read.

• Go over your notes from the day EACH night.

• Get a copy of the class notes if you are absent.

STUDY SMART

• Find a good place to study.• Get started, don’t put it off until later.• Know your learning style.• Organize your study time.• Drink WATER while you study.

GET HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT

• Talk to your teacher about it.• Make an appointment with the counselor.• Don’t be afraid to talk to your principal.• Talk to your parents when you get home.• Don’t wait, talk to SOMEONE!
