Here are a few tips to staying cool in the heat, with tricks that wont break the bank. So sit back, relax and enjoy these money-saving stay-cool strategies. Use Those Fans - The average ceiling fan makes it feel like its 4 degrees cooler than it actually is. Just remember fans cool you, not the air. Turn off fans when you leave the room, otherwise they actually add to the heat. Save the Satin & Silk - In the summer make sure to use cotton bed sheets and covering. Cotton allows for better ventilation than its silk, satin and polyester counterparts. Really hot? Try throwing the sheet in the freezer for about 5 minutes before you hit the sack. Change That Filter - Most home ventilation systems use filters to keep the junk out of your furnace and your air. But most people change these very rarely, so they get dirty and actually restrict the airflow. A good practice is to change the filter every Memorial Day and again at Thanksgiving.. Cook Outside - Not surprisingly, nothing adds more heat to your home than using the stove or oven. On those hot days fire up the barbieand take the party outside, and use it as an excuse to hone those grilling skills. Basor is the largest manufacturer of cable trunking products in South America, the Middle East and Europe but relatively unknown here. However, they now have facilities in the US including numerous stocking warehouses .

The Basorfil line is growing in popularity in the US because it is a high quality product with lower prices than the well-known B-Line and Chatsworth products, can be shipped very quickly, offers faster and easier installations and lower installation costs. Staying Cool in the Heat As the weather heats up, staying cool can be a constant battle. Doing it efficiently can be even harder. Here are a few tips to staying cool in the heat, with tricks that won’t break the bank. So sit back, relax and enjoy these money-saving stay-cool strategies.

On those hot days “fire up the barbie” and take the party outside, and use it as an excuse to hone those grilling skills.

A New Addition Some of you have already heard the news and a few have already met him. But, this month I am announcing the addition of a new member of Revco.

Similar to how I joined my father at Revco in 1984, my son, Rob, has joined me to continue our 50 year tradition as a family business.

Rob brings with him 8 years experience in the corporate and financial world. He holds an MBA and is a CPA. Most recent-ly, Rob, was the Controller of a company in Boston that designed, sold and installed specialty interior glass for office building environments.

While at that company, he not only man-aged the financial aspects of the business, but learned much about the sales and in-stallation side, too.

I am very enthusiastic about having Rob join me. He has already brought with him a number of fresh ideas to the business.

Rob lives in Boston and will initially be handling Massachusetts, Rhode Island and other New England areas. But, even if you are not in those areas, feel free to reach out to him with any questions or to discuss a product solu-tion for your next project.

No, he does not have the experience, wit and charm of his old man. But, like me when I started out 34+ years ago, he is quickly getting up to speed on product knowledge and will soon be able to pro-vide you with great product ideas and reli-able No B.S. advice and support.

Rob can be reached a [email protected] or directly at 203-526-6672.

Oh, the cover photo shows Rob as a 2 month old baby.

Funny Stuff This is a true story about a delayed flight in Houston, Texas.

Since the gate was needed for another flight, the aircraft was backed away from the terminal, and all passengers were di-rected to a new gate. Everyone found the new gate, only to discover a third gate had been designated for the plane.

Finally, everyone got on board the right plane, and the flight attendant announced:

“We apologize for the gate change. This flight is going to Washington, D.C. If your destination is not Washington, D.C., you should deplane at this time.”

A moment later a red-faced pilot emerged from the cockpit, carrying his bags. Sor-ry,” he said, “wrong plane.”

You’ve Got Questions… I’ve Got Answers This month I answer a question about the Great Lakes SEAL product family of security enclosures.

Q: How do I provide high-level security to data and equipment within my data center?

A: Great Lakes has introduced their SEAL line of server enclo-sures. SEAL stands for Secure Enclosures All Levels and it rep-resents the first complete solu-tion for eliminating the physical threat to data.

The SEAL line includes Intelligent Access with multi-factor authen-tication, sensors, software inte-gration and various handle op-tions such as key card and bio-metric locks. In addition, secure

channels conceal and protect cables to/from the handles and controllers while multi-point latches, secured hinges, tamper resistant panels and security covers prevent forced entries. If high security is needed in your data center, SEAL may be the perfect solution.

Work Your Brain

August Fun Facts August was named in honor of Augus-

tus Caesar. August has 31 days because Augustus wanted as many days as Julius Caesar's month, July. (The extra day was taken from February)

August is often referred to as the “Dog Days of Summer” but not because of man’s best friend. It has to do with the star Sirius, or the Dog Star, which rose at sunrise during ancient Roman times.
