CLEANING MARBLE AND GRANITE

• Marble and granite stones are getting more and more popular around the world. Rightfully so, because they do offer extraordinary beauty for all kitchens and they are one of the most durable solutions.

• Even though they are durable, marble and granite worktops still get stains, scratches and get dirty. Acids like lemon and vinegar can eat away the top polish from the worktops, so avoid them when you can.

• If you clean them with your usual utensils you use around the house, you may be doing more damage than good.

HOW TO CLEAN MARBLE TILES

•Only use neutral pH detergents. Before wiping them, sweep and vacuum all the dirt that's already on the surface.• Find a "test spot" and test your cleaning product before using it all over. You can see how effective it is and if it damages your marble worktop.

HOW TO CLEAN GRANITE

• For daily cleaning, use a mixture of non-sudsing ammonia or a mild powdered detergent.• Since granite is more resistant, you can use neutral pH cleanser and a non-yellowing paste wax 2-3 times a year.

HOW TO CLEAN RUST AND STAINS FROM MARBLE AND GRANITE?• There is a DIY solution for this. First, get a normal, commercial rust

remover and mix it up with powdered whiting.• Apply a thick coat of paste to the rust stain and then cover it with

plastic and seal it with masking tape in order to keep it damp. After 10-15 minutes, wash it out with clean water.

• If it doesn't work the first time, you can try it as many times as you want till the stain gets removed from the granite.
