General Information about the BGS degree

O 120 semester hours of courseworkO 25% of semester hours earned at

NSUO Can transfer in a max of 90 hours to

be used for the BGSO Must have a 2.0 average in all

courses in the “groups of concentration”

O Must have a 2.0 average in all courses taken at NSU

Other InformationO Students must complete 6 hours of the same

foreign language (example: French 1010 & 1020)

O Students must complete 3 hours of a computer literacy course

O Students must declare both a concentration AND a minorO See tutorial for more information at

the 3000/4000 levelO Of the 45 hours, at least 15 hours MUST be at the

4000 level

Relationship: General Education &

Concentrations

O The upper half of the left column represents the university core that all students must complete to earn a bachelor’s degree.

O The lower half of the left column represents other requirements.

O The right column upper half lists the groups of concentrations. O By completing the Core

Requirements you also fulfill all but 9 hours of the Social Science concentration.

Confused?

Though it may seem a little confusing at first, the BGS degrees allows a student to explore his/her interests while letting him/her complete a bachelor’s degree.

Declared Concentration and Minor

O Most students will chose their minor from the same area of their concentration.

O You are allowed to “double-dip” and

use some classes in more than one area.

O Later, we will see such an example from Sally Jo’s courses.
