HOW TO CREATE A FREE BLOG USING BLOGGER.COM

Howdy,

This guide is specially prepared by Augustus Nwobodo #Emperor, to help people

who want to be part of the Blogosphere, learn how to create their own blog for

free.

The tutorial here is worth some thousands of Naira if you are to pay for it. Because

it is free doesn’t mean you should pay less attention to it.

Prerequisite: Google mail, Smartphone, internet access, the common use of

I created my first blog in 2013, when I was in the senior secondary school and from then

Blogger.com Create your blog

hosted with a domain name all at zero cost.

Before going online, you need a special identification or name which is called your

domain name. It sets you apart from billions of website owners out there. It should be

something short and easy to pronounce or remember.

Google.com is an example of a domain name. Google is the domain name there and

anything after the domain name, is considered as the domain name extension.

But since we would be using a free platform to begin, your domain name will have a

relationship with the provider of the blog hosting.

Let's say chukasblog. It will be chukasblog.blogspot.com (free) or

chukasblog.com (premium)

How to STart a blog for free

Step 1: Go to blogger.com Step 2: tap on create your blog

Step 3: Enter your email address

and password (Gmail)

Step 5: Enter your blog address (no spacing)

change the phrase you're using if it's

unavailable until you come up with an

address that's unique. Then tap on next

Step 4: Enter your blog title (be

creative here)

Step 6: Enter your profile name (the

name that will be displayed as author

name when you make posts on your

blog) tap on finish

You can select your email from the list

if its already signed in


Welcome to your blogger dashboard. You now have a blog!

Blogger dashboard simplified

0: a place to select the blog you want to access,

if you have multiple blogs.

Blogger allows about 100 free blogs per Gmail

account.

1: where your posts are displayed:

-draft post: a post not yet published, just like a

text message saved ok your phone

- Published: a post you've sent out to

accessible to the public

2: Shows your blog statistics (post, page

views and visits from different countries)

3: a list of spam, pending and approved

comments.

4: your earnings (money made on that very

blog) is displayed here.

5: published and saved pages

6: where you can alter the structure of your

blog.

7: where to change your blog appearance

8: settings about your blog regarding search

engine bots, blog description, privacy, who's

eligible to comment and co.

9: your favorite blog posts to read from other

sources including yours if selected


HOW TO CREATE A BLOG POST

Step one:

Tap on post and then tap on the plus (+)

icon to create a new blog post

If you're familiar with word processors like WordStar and Microsoft word, you will find

the blog post editor easier to use.

A blog post basically has a title, introduction, body, conclusion, comment box (optional)

Post url etc.

To add subheadings, tap on the

3 dots up and make sure the

words you want to use as sub

heading are already highlighted

From the drop down, tap on paragraph

and then select heading (2). That's all.

Tap on publish, then you're done Tap on the upper 3 dots


OVER TO BLOG STATS…

The newly created blog stats can be seen below. This section displays the performances of your

blog content daily, weekly and yearly. In other words, the activities on the blog regarding users

interactions can be tracked on the Stats page.

POSSIBLE SOURCES OF TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG ARE:

Direct: People who typed your address directly on address bar

Social: People coming to your blog through links you shared on social media.

Organic: Traffic coming from search engines like: Google, Bing, yandex, yahoo,

etc

I had a total of 7 page views today. And 4 views on my recent post as of the

time this screenshot was taken. You can also see the country, and sources

where your traffic is coming from


The earning tab is the big deal.


This is where you can apply to partner with Google to display ads on your website and

make money each time someone clicks on your ads.

However, the blogs we created now can't apply for the partnership program (Google

Adsense) your blog need to stay active for some time, let's say 10 days minimum

before you can apply

When you apply, you may be accepted or rejected.

But there are sure ways to get AdSense approved which is beyond the scope of this free class.

Once you're approved, you will start earning from your blog when people react to your ads.

What if you aren't approved? There are a lot of means to earn money from your

blog. Honestly, Google AdSense is overrated. You can make a lot of money from

HOW TO CREATE A BLOG PAGE

Blog pages are slightly different from blog posts and are usually used for contents like:

Contact us page

Privacy policy About us

FAQS etc

There is a thin line between a page and a post. Pages house content that do not change very often.


Enter your blog page title, enter the content,

use the tools below the post title in the same

manner you used the ribbon on Msword. Tap

on the orange color button "publish" when

you're done

Tap on pages from the left panel. Tap on the blue link "create a new page*
