An echo may be defined as...

Issue with amplitude, loudness, or delay in conversation for either the speaker or listener, or both.

The duplication of someone’s voice on either end of the conversation.

The causes of your VoIP echo may be simple or complicated.

Either way, here’s how to fix them.

The most common cause of echoing occurs when the receiver volume is turned too

high on your telephone handset.

VOIP Echo Problem #1

Page 4: How to Eliminate Echoes on VoIP Calls

Place a call to a willing (or unwilling) accomplice.

Adjust your telephone’s volume with the handset picked up to no more than 50 percent.

If there is still an echo after your accomplice answers, lower the volume using the volume keys on the front of your phone.

If there’s still an echo, ask your listener to do the same.

The second most common cause is due to the signal conversion process between analog and

digital telephone lines. This one’s a bit more complicated.
