The most common question I get is: “How much do I need to spend to do well in my market?”

● There is no one right number.● Small budgets and Big budgets both work - they just

need different strategies.● Time is much more important than budget.

There are some serious problems with this question.

Pick the number you can safely spend for 6 months before hitting your first deal.

More than $3,000 a month? Use extensive mid-tier bids Modified Broad Match Keywords, bid heavy on Exact Match keywords, high keyword volume.

Now that we know our budget, let’s pick our strategy.

Less than $2,000 a month? Focus on high bids on small number of Phrase Match Keywords. Use Modified Broad Match very sparingly. High negative keyword volume.

You can get a huge advantage in any market by focusing on the top 10% of lead-generating keywords. So, how do

we do this?

1. When you get started, create a separate “Lead Filter” campaign with it’s own budget.

2. In this campaign, include 1 keyword in each ad group (up to 10 highly-targeted keywords total).

3. Use modified broad match keywords to maximize data.4. Bid to get on the first page, but don’t bid too much.

Once you have a list of highly-profitable but rare keywords, target them directly in your main campaign and aggressively compete on bids.

Result: highly-efficient bidding on super-cheap keywords your competition probably doesn’t even know exist.
