WideSpot Performing Arts Center celebrates its seventh season! We’re grateful for all who made it possible and we recognize that WideSpot’s success is due, in part, to the community of volunteers, who give so much of their time and talent freely. Volunteers make it happen!

WideSpot relies on the generous financial support of donors. Without your contributions, we could never dream of providing a calendar like this one, packed with nationally-known talent.

Because of programs like the Junior Players Summer Theater Camp for youth, WideSpot Players Theater, and Goin’ Coastal, the Wisconsin Arts Board awarded WideSpot a Creative Communities Grant for 2015-16. No small feat for a performing arts center in a village of only 66 residents!

Season Seven brings you programming as diverse and as breathtaking (we hope) as the landscape in which this historic venue calls home. Steps from the banks of Lake Pepin (also known as a “wide spot” in the Mississippi River), it’s located in Stockholm’s original opera house. So, it seems fitting that WideSpot has been called the sweetest spot to enjoy local and national performers.

WideSpot has come to mean: Welcome to camaraderie! Welcome to regional refreshment! May this season’s lineup bring you joy and quench your thirst for quality, engaging artistic performances.

How to get tickets Stay in the loop!

Avoid transaction fees by purchasing tickets in advance.

ONLINE Go to WideSpot.org and purchase tickets using PayPal or your credit card.

BY PHONE Call 715-307-8941 Leave a message with your name, phone number, name of show, and number of tickets. Your call will be returned within 24 hours, at which time your credit card information will be taken to secure your advance ticket-purchase. Ticket requests by phone cannot be accepted after noon on show day.

BY MAIL Send your ticket request and your credit card information or check made out to: WideSpot Performing Arts

AT THE DOOR Tickets may be purchased at the box office half an hour before a show. A $2 transaction fee will be charged for each ticket purchased at the door. Please note: Availability of tickets at the door is not guaranteed.

WideSpot welcomes kids 5–18, and offers a kid-friendly $10 ticket for Goin’ Coastal and Widespot Players Theater shows.

WideSpot is a 501c3 organization. As a nonprofit, we welcome your attendance, sponsorships, donations, and volunteer commitment. It survives entirely through the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of patrons and volunteers like you, as well as the efforts of its hands-on board of directors. All proceeds help fund WideSpot’s programming and ongoing operating expenses.

We’re terribly sorry, but WideSpot’s performance space is not wheelchair friendly. It resides on the second floor of a historic building. All contributions toward a passenger elevator will be warmly received — leave cash or send a check to WideSpot Performing Arts.

Goin’ Coastal! 4.1 Live Audience Radio Variety Show Everyone’s raving about WideSpot’s very own down-home show, featuring local talent with professional expertise. In its FOURTH season, enjoy an evening of stories, comedy, and drama, with musical guests The Sawtooth Brothers, fresh from their recent Minnesota State Fair appearance. Intro to Improv Classes Steve Anderson, veteran performer and Brave New Workshop Student Union alumnus, heads up another 8-week workshop series to help you with stage fright and teach you improvisational theater techniques. Join the fun. Runs through November 20.


Southside Aces In the New Orleans jazz tradition, the Aces possess a diverse repertoire, with a roll call that includes names like Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, and Bix Beiderbecke. Dance and jive to this phenomenal band.


The Hot Flashes Holiday Concert Ignite your Christmas spirit once again with Dave Zahn and the fabulous Hot Flash ladies! Their zest and humor light a fire under each Christmas classic. Always a sell-out performance!


Bernie King & the Guilty Pleasures A little bit blues, a little bit bluegrass, a little bit rock, and a little bit kitchen sink, a style of music that some fans have come to call “blues-grass.” Performing original songs inspired by the styles of Shane McGowan, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, and Bill Monroe, this band promises an evening of pure guilt-free pleasure!

Warren Nelson & Friends in Concert The Big Top Chautauqua founder and performer calls himself a “tent-show junkie.” Producer, poet, historian, storyteller, musician, and songwriter, Warren Nelson — along with Jack Gunderson, Rowan Nelson-Ferris, and Otis McLennon — will bring the Big Top to WideSpot for two shows.


Goin’ Coastal! 4.3 Live Audience Radio Variety Show It’s been a long winter and spring is in the air! Tickets will go fast for the Season 4, Episode 3 finale. Be part of this live audience radio show as Patty the Postmistress solves another mystery and the Torgesons take hilarity to another level, as only they can!


Four Pints Shy We’ll be celebratin’ a wee-bit-early! But even St. Paddy himself would approve. Based in Minneapolis, this Irish band has been playing traditional folk music in true Celtic style for ten years. Enjoy Irish beer and feel the spirit of Ireland right here in Wisconsin.

Holiday Readers Theater It’s become a holiday tradition! Members of the community perform in the manner of an old-time radio production. Complete with sound effects, cute kids, and plenty of holiday cheer. Don’t be left out in the cold; purchase your tickets early. It’s a sell out!


Dan Chouinard Renowned pianist, accordionist, storyteller, and master of ceremonies, Dan Chouinard returns to WideSpot, ushering in 2017 with a special guest. Be wowed by their festive blend of stories, wit, and intoxicating music. Don’t miss this classic — and classy — evening for grownups, complete with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.


Brokedown Dollys Joanna Jahn, Kari Shaw, and Megan Shaw harmonize to the music of EmmyLou Harris, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and many other female country artists of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Always a treat, the Dollys will entertain you with their folk and Americana hits.


The Old Fashioneds Guitarist Mike “Jump” Munson and vocalist “Little Miss Wiggle” Sarah Johnson are joined by bassist Dave “In That Case” Casey and drummer Zac “Magik” Barbieur, playing jazz and rock & roll. Known for reworking songs by greats like Gene Vincent and Dave Alvin, they’ll make you want to shake your tailfeathers. See you on the dance floor!

WideSpot Players Theater Community theater at its finest, featuring your family, friends, and neighbors! Always the highlight of the season, the WideSpot Players bring drama and laughter to sell-out crowds. You, too, could be an aspiring actor; so, consider becoming a Player! Nancy Lund returns as director. (Auditions take place the first week in January.)


Rio NidoWith Tom Lieberman on vocals and guitar, Prudence Johnson on vocals and Tim Sparks on vocals and guitar, Rio Nido specializes in Classic Jazz and Swing of the 1930’s and 40’s. This popular jazz trio emerged from the heady days of the Minneapolis West Bank music scene of the early 1970’s.
