How to get to the tennis.There are lots of transport options to get you to and from the Australian Open.

  Keep in mind there are disruptions to the public transport and road networks over summer. Plan ahead and check before you travel.

Accessibility

Low-floor trams will run as shuttle services between Stop D6 Flinders Street West and Stop 7C MCG Gates 4–7 / Melbourne Arena during the Australian Open. Train passengers should connect at Flinders Street Station. Accessible trams will operate approximately every 10 minutes.All buses on Route 246 to Olympic Boulevard are low-floor services.

Getting to the Australian OpenMonday 20 January to Sunday 2 February

Metropolitan trains

As work continues on the Metro Tunnel, buses will replace trains on parts of the Frankston, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines from Thursday 2 January to Thursday 30 January.Express buses will operate between Caulfield and Federation Square and stopping all station buses will depart from Spring Street – close to both the sport and entertainment precincts. Additional services will also be available between Caulfield and Richmond.On all other lines customers can catch trains to Flinders Street Station, Parliament Station, Jolimont Station or Richmond Station and then walk or tram to Melbourne Park.

Trams

Australian Open ticket-holders can travel for free on tram routes 70 and 70a to get to Melbourne Park. Trams run every 5 minutes at busy times, and for one hour after the end of play each night. Low-floor trams run approximately every 10 minutes.City Circle trams will travel in a clockwise direction only around the city, between 9.30am and midday each day. Trams will resume in both directions from midday.

Regional trains

As we upgrade the Gippsland Line, coaches will replace trains from Thursday 2 January to Thursday 30 January.Express, semi-express and stopping all stations coaches are replacing trains between Southern Cross Station, Traralgon and Bairnsdale to take you to the courtside action.You can get to and from the Australian Open by catching a coach to Flinders Street Station and from there either walking or catching a tram.On all other lines, passengers can connect to free shuttle tram services from Flinders Street at Southern Cross or Flinders Street stations.

Road network

We’re also transforming major roads to make it easier and safer to move around the west. Road detours will be in place so check before you travel.Plan ahead and allow extra travel time for significant delays. Visit the VicRoads website for up-to-date information.
