Since the turn of the year 2019/2020, the world has been battling with coronavirus (COVID-19). The pandemic has already resulted in many seriously ill people and sadly also many dead.

The new Covid vaccinations offer you the best possible protection currently available against the disease and its possible consequences. Vaccination is of course voluntary – but definitely recommended for persons from the age of 16.

And the vaccination is of course free of charge for everyone.

Vaccination is the BEST PROTECTION

… against falling ill with Covid. Register today for your vaccination.

How can I get vaccinated?

To be able to vaccinate as many people as possible as soon as possible, special vaccination centres were set up.

To avoid long waiting times there or even rejections, it is absolutely necessary that you make an appoint-ment in advance. To do so, you must first, however, register.

You can now also get vaccinated by your general practitioner instead.

All you need to know about REGISTRATION

How do I register?

Alternative 1:Via the Internet at www.impfzentren.bayern

For this, you need an email address and a mobile phone capable of receiving text messages. Somebody else can also carry out the registration for you, for example a relative. (Up to 5 persons can be registered with one email address).

By calling your regional vaccination centre direct by telephone. The telephone number can be found on the website of the Bavarian Ministry of Health and Care at http://q.bayern.de/kontakt-iz

For a list of the regional vaccination centres, please scan this QR code with a smartphone.

Alternative 3:By phoning the nationwide central number 116 117.

Alternative 4:In doctors’ surgeries, too, those people are vaccinated first for whom COVID poses a higher risk, or who are more likely to become infected and pass on the virus due to their profession.

So whoever might be thinking about consulting their doc-tor in the next few days can first check whether he or she will be given priority for vaccination – and really just wait a while longer if not.

ImportantIf you have already registered by one of the different methods mentioned, you need do no more. You will be contacted automatically as soon as you are eligible for vaccination.

Can I get vaccinated any time? No, you need an appointment at a vaccination centre or with your general practitioner.

How do I get an appointment for my vaccination? To get an appointment, you must always first register or put your name down with your general practitioner.

If you registered via the Internet:■ Then the vaccination centre responsible for you will send you a text message and email inviting you to book an appointment.

■ Next, you can log in with your user data (user name and password) and book a couple of appointments (1st and 2ndvaccination) online.

■ Whilst you are online scheduling a time, for verification purposes a text message with a numerical code will be sent to your mobile phone. Please enter this numerical code online.

■ Once you have chosen a time, you will receive an appointment confirmation by text message and email as well as some important documents (see page 7 “Important documents”).

You want your GP to vaccinate you?■ There is no need for registration as there is with the vaccination centres.

How do I find my vaccination centre? The vaccination centre closest to your place of residence or permanent residence is responsible for you.

You can find out which one that is by calling the citizens’ hotline of your district or municipality, on the hotline 116 117 or by visiting the Internet site: http://q.bayern.de/impfzentren.

May somebody accompany me?Yes, one person may accompany you to your vaccination.

Is one vaccination enough? Not as a rule. To obtain the full protective effect of the vaccine, you must be vacci-nated a second time, around 3–12 weeks after the first vaccination, depending on the vaccine. With certain vaccines, a single vaccination can also be administered.

All you need to know about the VACCINATION itself

Do I have to register again for the second vaccination? No, you will already be given your appointment for the second vaccination when you make your first appoint-ment, or directly at the place of your first vaccination. You do not, therefore, need to register again.

What is the vaccination procedure? You hand over to the staff who are present the docu-ments you received in the post and filled out after regis-tration, your vaccination booklet, your identity card and, if applicable, a certificate from your employer. Should you not have received any documents, you will be given some at the venue and be asked to fill them in.

■ A doctor will have a short informative talk with you. You will be vaccinated in the upper arm.

■ After the vaccination, you should stay for another 15–30 minutes for observation.

■ Finished! You will be given your vaccination booklet/ a vaccination record and can go home.

What happens if I have to cancel my vaccination appointment at short notice, because I am ill, for example? If you cannot keep a vaccination appointment, please let your vaccination centre or your GP know in time.

Questions about the VACCINE

Are there different vaccines? At present, there are vaccines from different manufacturers. All have been tested and approved by the Paul Ehrlich Institute and are recommended by the STIKO (German Standing Commission on Vaccination).

More details about this can be found at corona-schutzimpfung.de

Can I choose a vaccine? No, the vaccine is administered depending on its availabil-ity and approval conditions. Recommendations regarding its use for certain age groups are also taken into account.

Are the vaccines really safe? All vaccines were tested in clinical trials on tens of thou-sands of volunteers before they were approved, and no serious side effects have occurred so far.

The health risk from contracting the disease is far higher.

What reactions or complications can occur following vaccination? As with any vaccination, minor, mild reactions may occur after a corona vaccination. They show that the body is dealing with the vaccine, and the accompanying symptoms indicate that the immune system has been mobilised. These reactions to the vaccine rarely last more than a few days. Vaccine complications are consequences of vaccination that exceed the normal range of a vaccine reaction.

Reactions may include: Pain, swelling, redness or itching at the injection site, fatigue, nausea or vomiting, headache or chills, joint or muscle pain and a fever. Occasionally, swelling of the lymph nodes, insomnia, pain in the arm or leg and malaise have also been observed. In very rare cases, allergic reactions have occurred.Complications (very rare) may include:

■ Allergic reactions up to and including shock■ mRNA vaccines: facial paralysis■ Vector vaccine: blood clots, decrease in platelet count, bleeding

Where can I report vaccine reactions? Please report side effects to your GP.

Do you have any more questions?Your GP will be pleased to help. Your pharmacy is also a good contact to ask.
