Participation is convenient and flexible. The choice is yours. CASH GIFTS This is the simplest and quickest way you can provide for the future. Your tax-deduct- ible cash contribution starts to make a dif- ference immediately. Your legacy gift in this form means the Golden Circle can begin to plan and touch those in need right now. COMMEMORATIVE, MEMORIAL AND CELEBRATION GIFTS Commemorative Gifts are meaningful ways intended to honor an important event or an important person from the past. Memorial Gifts are when a friend or loved one leaves us. We often show our sorrow in the way of a gift, such as flowers. A gift to Leaving a Legacy is another option. It recognizes the special person in your family or community. Celebration Gifts may honour a friend, colleague or loved one for an accomplishment, or perhaps someone you know is retiring after many years of outstanding service, or has reached another important milestone in their life such as a graduation, wedding or a special anniversary. They are gifts of love and applause. GIFTS THROUGH LIFE INSURANCE A gift through life insurance is a small invest- ment now that grows into a major contribution in the future. A gift through life insurance is a convenient and flexible way for many donors to make a gift to Leaving a Legacy to ensure brighter tomorrows for generations to come. There are many ways in which life insurance can be used to make a major gift or to per- petuate an annual gift. Some of these are: New Policies, existing Policies, and Dividend Assignments. NAMING A CHARITY AS BENEFICIARY People who do not have immediate family or dependents, or who have provided for them in another way, may name the Golden Circle as a beneficiary of their policies. The Golden Circle may be named a primary beneficiary, or as a secondary beneficiary in the event that the primary beneficiary is not living, or as the last beneficiary. GIFTS THROUGH REAL ESTATE OR VALUABLES There are many ways you can contribute to Leaving a Legacy - creative ways that deliver results. Perhaps the most personal gift you can give comes in the form of your property which you have enjoyed through your lifetime. It may be a cottage, a residence, a farm, or a commercial building. It may include a collection of stamps, paintings, or antiques. DESIGNATED GIFTS Any gifts that specify the use to which the gift is to be put will be known as Designated Gifts. Such gifts will be used in accordance with the intentions stated by the donor, or for an appropriate alternative which is agreeable to both the donor and the Board of Directors. GIFTS THROUGH WILLS For many people, a legacy gift through a bequest or Will is the most suitable way to provide for the future. Your Will is your opportunity to distribute gifts to those whom you may want to recognize. Reviewing your Will periodically is important. Why Give? A gift to Leaving a Legacy is an investment and an opportunity to “be involved” in the future growth of the Golden Circle. No gift is too small to make a difference, and we do accept designated legacy gifts. Why Give?A gift to Leaving a Legacy is an investment and an opportunity to “be involved” in the future growth of the Golden Circle.

No gift is too small to make a difference, and we do accept designated legacy gifts. It will acknowledge that you have made a decision to provide for the Golden Circle, and its support of the social health and wellness of adults in our community.

It is a unique opportunity to have a “voice” in the future. By contributing to Leaving a Legacy today, your gift will ensure that the support and information continues to be provided for a thousand tomorrows.

the Golden Circle holds a special place in the hearts of many. Leaving a Legacy will outlast your lifetime and touch the lives of future generations.

About theGolden CircleThe roots of the Golden Circle go back to 1975.

During the early part of 1976, through input from many seniors and the building commit-tee, a final plan was approved. The sod turning took place on August 4, 1976. The Kiwanis Club then turned their attention to raising the balance of the $100,000. For six months they had been planning Red Deer’s first Telethon under the chairmanship of the late Roy Simpson. It was a huge success! A “Name the Centre” contest received 200 responses. Norman Bowles sent in the suc-cessful name “Golden Circle” and he and Frank Soehn designed the logo. Thanks to good weather, the building was essentially finished by April 28, 1977. A four day Social Opening was held with an estimated 5000 people visiting the Golden Circle. In 2012 the Golden Circle celebrated its 35th Anniversary.

What is Leaving

a Legacy?

“A way for the community

to support the Golden Circle.”

The purpose of Leaving a Legacy is to establish an opportunity for donors to give a gift to benefit the Golden Circle, its members, and the community; either currently or in the future. Leaving a Legacy will help us ensure that the Golden Circle will continue to meet the needs in the community through its programs and outreach services.

Many members of the community have the desire to demonstrate their strong commit-ment to the Golden Circle by being provided with the opportunity to reflect that commit-ment in their Will, or by some other gift. Leaving a Legacy is intended to be separate and distinct from all other Golden Circle funds. It is, however, intended that money from legacy gifts can be used to cover regu-lar and ongoing operational requirements of the Golden Circle, as well as to ensure all members of the community have affordable access to programs and services.

Recognized for Innovation

In 2013 the Golden Circle was one of the recipients of an award in recognition of the International Day of Person with Disabilities Alberta. We were the first in Central Alberta to have an accessibility audit done by Central Alberta Paraplegic Association, using the standards developed by the Rick Hanson Foundation. The Golden Circle passed with flying colours and we were nominated in the category that looks at the built environment (“barrier free building”).

Developing our Future

Growing and changing keeps the Golden Circle and members of our community strong. Careful and deliberate planning is required as we adapt in order to grow and meet the needs in our community. New trends continue to develop. Our population is aging and the role of government in social welfare and health is ever changing. The Golden Circle needs to be in a position to respond to these changes. Many individuals in our community have been touched by the Golden Circle - it may have been a

neighbour, a friend, or a grandparent; when the need for help arises, the

Golden Circle with its staff and volunteers will be there. A

legacy gift to the Golden Circle is an investment

for the future. L e a v i n g a L e g a c y
