Ingredients ArcGIS SM Online account login Brain power Instructions For this example, we are going to use the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, but keep in mind that many cities are publishing local data and you can search in a similar fashion. 1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online account. (for a free trial, visit go.esri.com/startrealestate.) 2. Click the Map tab at the top of the browser. 3. Click the Add drop down arrow and search for layers. Type “Charlotte” and search within ArcGIS Online (instead of “My Organization”). 4. Be sure to uncheck the Within Map Area option. Click Go. You will see a variety of layer options within the city of Charlotte. 5. Scroll through the results. Many items will appear. You will see items published by Esri, the local community, and the City of Charlotte. Add layers for aerial imagery, boundaries (in some cities’ tax parcels), points of interest, land use, local insights, etc. (Note: The amount of data published for each city will vary, but now you have access to on-the-ground insight!) 6. Add layers to your map. Use it to further evaluate your sites. Tip: In addition to local layers, you have access to national demographic and life style data. Browse these in the Living Atlas of the World in the Add drop-down menu. 7. Save your map. Share with your clients!
