    Installing a Bamboo Friendly

    Fence

    These instructions walk you through installing anunframed 1" Bamboo Friendly Fence. If you're

    installing a 2" bamboo fence, you'll want to uselonger screws to comensate for the increase indiameter.

    Materials:

    5x5 fence posts (Cedar or

    pressure treated)

    (3) 2x4s per section, plus (1) to roll

    the bamboo panel out on and scrap

    for spacer blocks

    2 1/4" and 3" deck scres

    Tools:

    Circular or chop sa !liers e#elin$ line ith tall stakes

    e#el Clamps %peed s&uare (otional)

    !ost hole di$$er, sho#el ' other

    di$$in$ tools (deending on your

    soil)

    lectric drill ith bits for drillin$

    and countersinkin$ scre holes

    and dri#in$ scres

    Instructions:

    1 %et up le#el line and stake out *our post holes a fe inches less than + ft apartto $i#e *ou some i$$le room

    2 i$ post holes about 1+" across and 3-.3" deep

    3 !lace and hold a 5x5 post in the hole ith one side a$ainst the le#el line 0his

    puts the post on the plane established b* the line, hich the hole fence ill

    follo old a le#el a$ainst a side of the post perpendicular to the one a$ainstthe line and adust the post until its le#el

    4 ill in about +" of dirt and pack it in ti$ht eep the post plum hile *ou fill inthe hole b* atchin$ the le#el and le#el line Continue until hole is full and the

    post is sturd*

    5 6hen *our posts are in, measure for the exact len$th of 2x4 rails to run across

    the bottom, top, and middle of each section of fence !osition the bottom and

    top rails about 1 less than the hei$ht of *our bamboo fence, so that hen the

    bamboo fence is installed, the poles ill extend abo#e and belo the rails tohide them

    Clamp the rails in place back from the front faces of the posts, lea#in$ ustenou$h clearance for the fence panel and the trim board

    7 %ecure each rail ith (4) 2 1/4" stainless steel or deck scres (one on the topand to on each side) screed in at an an$le

    TIP: ense 8e n$land soildoesnt re&uire cement or stone

    dust 9f *ou doubt *our soil, fillthe hole partiall* in ith stonedust or brace the post and pour concrete

    TIP: 0o easil* position the rail,cut a spacer block the idth of

    the bamboo plus 1" for the trimcrap and measure back from the

    front of the post

    : Clamp an extra 2x4 onto the loer rail and unroll the fence panel on it so the

    bamboo is kept strai$ht and le#el and off the $round

    1- 9f the fence panel is too lon$ to fit beteen the posts, undo its ire ith pliers

    and remo#e the necessar* poles ;eplace the ori$inal last pole (since it has andextra hole to hold the end of the ire), trim excess ire and re.secure the ire
